This is just a basic article talking about what to expect from this mod. It is essentially not a mod, but more of a mappack extension in the vein of the BM extended maps like Surface Tension and On a Rail. Not only will I restore the 2002 maps, but add features to make them more 2003-esque, like adding tech staples and additional scripted events. I also want to show off more of the weapons from MI so that will be a fun surprise too.
So far, the project as a whole is 60% done. I know that the map e3_lab isn't included in MI, and for that matter has never been fixed even in the leak. I thought of restoring it but found too many obstacles in my way. Then I viewed the demo on YouTube and I felt a determination come over me. The demo is just too cool. Now I am bent on fixing this map. Lots of the original content is missing, but I still think it's possible. I am not promising ANYTHING. But I can't think of how this map could possibly be screwed up so bad. I think this map might be the major highlight of this mod. I know MI tried to fix e3_lab, and abandoned it, but they are working on lots of other stuff. I don't have nearly as much on my plate, so I know I have time.
Also, lemme just say a few words about HL2. It's a great game and here's why: the themes of good and evil expressed in the game are very well thought. The Combine are the most dire threat to humanity and they make a great villain. On the other hand, Gordon Freeman is a great romantic hero. His past mistakes make him bent on destroying what has destroyed too much. That's what makes him admirable. As I think of the problems in this world, I know there will always be heroes that will stand against them, no matter what the cost is to them, and that's what is expressed in Half-Life. Another thing that makes HL2 awesome is the physics and realism. The closer a game is to emulating the real world, the better, and that's mainly the way Valve has created Half-Life. Hence the name. More news will be posted soon.
