Where did I go? Answering Questions about INFINITE PLUS

Posted by on

Hello everyone here. I'm 9090over. For years people have shown great interest in INFINITE PLUS despite its dubious quality, and have even went on to actively improve on GVGNP modding. However, time has changed me. I'm now older and wiser and it's time for me to stand up and take some accountability. So let's get some questions answered.

1. Why did you vanish/stop working on INFINITE PLUS?

I became unmotivated with "developing" 4.0 after a while, and eventually I simply moved on to other pastures.

2. Do you have interest in returning to INFINITE PLUS?

No. I have no interest in this project. For a few reasons actually.

1) This "mod" is really just a discombobulated collection of CWCheat codes I found randomly across the internet. There's no true originality or effort in REAL coding from me. I appreciate whatever praise INFINITE PLUS had, but please give that love to real coders, real modders, and people who actually know what they're doing.

2) I was a dumb kid who was really fixated in GVGNP, and INFINITE PLUS reflects that in every way possible. Terrible balance across the roster, little idea of how to mod a game (so no custom characters directly in without CWCheat, no custom textures, didn't even change the UI, and just used someone else's BGM modded copy of GVGNP), and a convoluted process to even make anything work. It's a genuine miracle that people were into this project with all of this cacophony. And for that I'm obligated to give my thanks to you all for the support.

3) Because it's a random mismatch of codes, and because my naivete during childhood, I didn't consider the fact that I didn't credit anyone who REALLY made all of this possible. Looking back, I feel bad since I didn't do much of anything outside of mixing different codes together (which even then I didn't always do).

With this reasons that I explained, I hope can be understood by all of you on why INFINITE PLUS just stopped being worked on after a while.

4. Where are you now?

I moved on from GVGNP onto things like fighting games, Touhou, SRB2KART, and more. I'm still a fan of Gundam and mecha anime as a whole, but I'm more in control of my passions and fixtures. Far more than the child I was all those years ago.

5. What does this mean for GVGNP modding?

INFINITE PLUS might be gone, but it seemed to cause people to get more interesting in modding GVGNP, and you know what? That's is the only good thing that came from INFINITE PLUS, people came in, improved upon this mess, and created things that look genuinely well made. While I left GVGNP modding, others stayed or came in to make great texture packs, CWCheats, and more into a old game I recommend checking what more recent GVGNP modding looks like, it's probably leagues better than anything INFINITE PLUS was doing. Plus, EXVS Full Boost now has mods of its own, so you have GVGNP, EXVSFB, and the old guard UKW (Ultimate Knight Windom) to mod to your heart's content. There's simply far better options nowadays than to stick to INFINITE PLUS, real quality is waiting for you.

6. What will be the fate of INFINITE PLUS?

I'm considering deleting the files and just releasing whatever codes are there on their own without a ROM or anything like that. Not only this help preserve some CWCheat codes that might have been lost to time, but keeps the door open for people to experiment on this codes to make something better than what I was doing years ago.

If you made it this far, I thank you for hearing me out. I hope you can understand my opinions and feelings about this project. And for whoever is involved in GVGNP modding, I wish you great luck on your endeavors.
