So it's been quite some time since the release of version 2.2 of the Grid Xtra mod.
What was supposed to be a small update kept growing with new additions and kept getting more delays.
Now I can say that Grid Xtra V2.3 is nearly ready for release!This article will go over some of the main changes.

Custom sounds
One of the main things that I wanted to explore with modding GRID was whether custom sounds were possible.After many workarounds I can confirm it is indeed possible!
With V2.3 majority of the cars will have custom exhaust blowoff sounds.
Now of course one of the things that didn't age well with GRID were the engine sounds,and those are moddable too!Although it's more difficult to get them to work just right in comparison with exhaust sounds.Currently only the Mclaren F1 GTR has a new engine sound,but for a future update i'm planning to overhaul every car's engine sound.

New DLC car and event icons
All the DLC cars(and the Porsche 911) have received custom renders so they no longer use low-resolution icons.
(Also in the picture:Vehicle stat overhaul!Now the statistics are relative to the cars in that discipline
rather than in comparison with all cars.Also,the DLC vehicles now have working stats)
The custom events also received new icons more fitting with their theme.

New liveries and 'special' cars
With this update come more unique liveries used either by the AI or by the player in Race Day mode.
Also with this patch,two 'new' cars will be included.The first one is the Pontiac GTO,but for the Pro Muscle class.While it does have the speed,it can be tricky in corners.
The second car is an unique variant of the Toyota Supra.It can be obtained only if you beat the Final Showdown against Ravenwest,or if you use a cheat code to unlock the Gamestation BMW(can't make it have a separate unlock code,so it instead shares the one with the BMW).
'Smokey' Nagata fans will definitely want to check this one out.
(The livery isn't just for show:it's the fastest Tuner car in the game
and with a long enough straight you can get it to 390 kph!)
Version 2.3 should release in a week or two from releasing this post(currently still fixing a few bugs and ensuring the game is mostly stable with the mod).
