It is 2001. A small group of government scientists operating out of top-secret laboratories in the NORAD military base in Colorado discover that propulsed ions, under the right conditions, generate massive amounts of energy. However, during one of the tests, something goes terribly wrong, and a massive explosion decimates NORAD and 200 miles of surrounding wilderness. Chemical interactions between the soil and the research materials burn the surface of the damaged area deep red. The mountains become known as the Redlands and NORAD is closed. The government, fearing that it might not be able to sufficiently contain this new energy source turns to a small upstart company called Nautilus Industries (NI). NI discovers a way to safely harness and control propulsed ion energy through the use of a new technology called "hydronics". NI's innovations popularize the use of ion energy in everything from homes to vehicles. In 2005, NI develops the Single-Cockpit Ram Air Military Jet...

The good people over at hl2grounds.org have just released an interview with the GHOST Ops: The Avalon Project MOD leaders, illOgic and Adam.Atomic. As well as gaining some interesting information about the MOD, they were also the first website to see in-production alpha shots of the very promising G.H.O.S.T. Ops: The Avalon Project.
(Note that these in-production are from the first alpha released to the team, meaning that anything in the picture is subject to change, and probably will, weapon origins, arm skins and the ingame scaling of the gun isn't yet finished, so bear with us :).
Here is a snippet from the interview...

Javert: So the mod will be released for HL1 ?

illOgic: The mod will be released for HL1.

Javert: Then for HL2, what improvements or additions are we looking at?

illOgic: Actually, for now we would like to keep that under wraps till the release of HL2. I will say, we have planned some major improvements and overhauls, ideas that we had for GHOST1, and could not implement due to engine restrictions, not only HL, but any engine to date. The Source engine will make these ideas possible, and will have a huge impact on the gameplay.

Interested? Then read the rest of the interview here, or read more about G.H.O.S.T. Ops: The Avalon Project at their website.
