Here's the TC wad itself, let me know if there's any issues.
Here's the TC wad itself, let me know if there's any issues as I haven't 100% tested all the maps.
Directions are in the README.TXT, I recommend using a separate GZDoom install just for this mod.
This WAD here replaces as much stuff as possible to play like the GBA port of Doom II.
It replaces the flats, textures, HUD, colour palette, maps (including the split maps) and music.
This means everything is censored and looks ugly (GBA used a different palette) just like you'd expect
All the weapons have been reprogrammed with DECORATE to closely match the GBA weapons as possible. Including the random varying speeds of the weapons due to the poor framerate on the GBA version.
Why make this? I dunno, this has just been dormant and incomplete on my hard-drive since I made the GBA Doom II modding tools on my site, but when "Randy87" recently made a map converter tool for the GBA maps, I thought I'd may as well finish it up and upload it.
After getting a new weapon (Chainsaw, Shotgun or SSG) disappears if you switch weapons.
Fixing it.
I'm having trouble reproducing the problem, I'm able to switch to Fist/Chainsaw Shotgun/SSG after picking up new weapons the same way as PC Doom.
Had a bit of a play and found out what's going on.
You are running 2 instances of the mod! The gzdoom.ini is already configured to autoload the GBA Doom II TC.
If you drag the WAD on top of GZDoom, it'll be loading it through the ini and also as a command line (there will also be warnings talking about duplicate entries on launch)
To fix it, just launch GZDoom.exe on it's own.
Oh, I knew that I was doing something wrong, anyway thank you for the reply, and sorry for the inconvenient.
It's all good hahaha, I probably should've specified it auto loads.
Anyway enjoy the mod!
THANK.YOU.
Welcome fam
What exactly does this change? I'm a bit confused on why this needed a port. Does it have extra features that Doom II didn't have or something?
the port is a ******* mess, leading to the game looking completely different due to a different color palette, the game speed being tied to framerate even though the framerate is unstable as hell, leading to the game working faster or slower depending on the map, the HUD was changed to have less stuff on it and the music sound completely different due to it being compleatly hardware based, meaning its played on an original gameboy soundchip since the GBA doesnt have any dedicated sound hardware beyond that
lol i have my gba right here worth mentioning are wolfensetein 3d serius sam driv3r and doom 2 xD lost road rash tho
