First Strike is a Star Wars total conversion modification for Battlefield 2142. The goal of First Strike is to totally immerse the players into the amazing universe of Star Wars by presenting the most accurate representations of famous Star Wars locales, weapons, and characters, and combining them with exciting, fast paced gameplay and features new to the Battlefield scene. Within this mod you'll find yourself as a soldier of the Galactic Empire or as a freedom fighter for the Rebel Alliance. You'll fight across lovingly detailed recreations of various Star Wars locations with a wide array of weapons and vehicles.

I swear this only thing keeping me from being a pro in this game is the hitbox. I'm in America and all the servers are in Europe. *sigh...* Anyways did you make space debris?

D'you mean general space debris, or debris from destroyed capital ships? Cap ship debris has been in there since 1.5.

If you're talking about just general generic floating space debris, we can do it, it all depends if that is appropriate for the map really. We have a space map in development which utilises debris because it takes place in a setting which would have such space clutter for example.

No we won't be doing that, I think we may have discussed this before, fighters are so small relative to the space environment that you'd have trouble spotting a whole one floating aimlessly in space, never mind debris parts of one. You literally wouldn't see it until you were right on top of it, and then if you blinked you'd miss it at the speed you're travelling, so it really wouldn't be worth it.

Now space hulks and debris from destroyed capital ships? That is a different matter, and we've been working towards some really nice debris fields as a result from extended capital ship warfare. A good round of Taloraan for instance should look like a proper starship graveyard by the time you're done.

I was thinking maybe you could make the wreck have a large fire ball coming from the back of it then explodes after several seconds.

I'm sorry, having trouble figuring out just exactly what you're after, do you mean debris from fighters being flown by players and bots? If so, that already features in the death of any fighter, you get an explosion and debris, but the debris just disappears.

They do explode, starfighters have always exploded when destroyed, not quite getting you.

Do you mean you want to see the debris parts also explode or something? If so I think that might be a bit much for an effect that only lasts a second.

That's what I meant. Like wings to fly off with fireballs after them and then explode after a couple seconds.
