Currently i polish every day ~6 - 8 hours the codebase. Today i started to tweak a menu function, which i have had named "Distance scaler".
Basically it simply Scales dynamicly the viewing and Engine Renderdistance depending on CPU load.
Actually i have implemented a Routine, which now allow simply to give a desired Framerate you would like to have, then the Scaler tries always to keep that FPS by constant increasing and decreasing the Renderdistance, scale Fog start and end and so some other things.
I have seen this Map the first time with constant stable 60 FPS, and no matter where i was or what i do, it always have now very comfortable high Framerates (before i often have had 30 FPS).
As sideeffekt, the Fog scaling (which have to be done too to mask the cutted "end" of the world), change always the look and feel from sky and the visual notification of "Weather", which is not really intendet by me as Mapdesigner, but it gives a intresting "Always different look" feeling.
Have now to implement this new Features in the Menu and throw away the Old Setting Buttons.
I plan to insert a FPS slider and a ON/Off button, i think that should do the Job totally.
Practially the engine needs also a min distance and a max distance value, which you have actually also set up in the Menu, but i think i maybe can that Throw away, or make this only accessible if you really want to tweak such things byself (which only make sense for Screenshots with incredible wide viewingranges or so).
This really looks fantastic...
thank you :)
