A mod for Source 2013 Singleplayer that I throw ideas at from time to time. Even though it says Episode Two, it's for Source 2013. Download Source SDK 2013 Base Singleplayer with the "upcoming" beta to play this mod. I don't really know where to go with this mod anymore. I'm just going to through ideas out and see what people think.

Hello. This is lonkfania and I am going to talk about Faded. For all new update articles from now on, I'm breaking them down into sections: The Theme, The Gameplay, and The Graphics. Let's start.

The Theme

As you may have noticed, the story has been removed from the bio of this mod's ModDB page. The reason why is because I'm not sure if I want to go this direction, as the basic vampire mechanic is becoming too big for my britches.

Basically, the vampire mechanic is harder to code than I thought and I'm sad.

The Gameplay

But don't worry, I've got a new demo map for you.

Yes, another one.

Look:

It's short, like the previous one, but it's a little more... height-y. It's also bigger. Everything is of course subject to change.

At the beginning, there's a waking-up sequence with a fade from white, you sitting on the ground, then standing up as zombie noises permeate through the door. It's a little cool. Maybe. Also, if anyone wants to explain why the arms are clipping, go ahead. It would be helpful.

You actually use the pistol this time, more than the 357, which is why I got a new skin for it (Silvo & Twinkie USP Match -- Hl2.gamebanana.com). The firing sound was kind-of piercing though, so I swapped out those sounds with ones from chrisART's USP (chrisART USP - HL2 Ver. -- Hl2.gamebanana.com).

A closer look at the pistol:

I would have used chrisART's USP entirely but it didn't change the hud icon, which BUGGED ME SO MUCH ARGG. So, USP Match. But, this skin means I have to get explicit permission from the author to use it, so that means the next demo release is going to be delayed.

I also got a skin for the Magnum. Here's the original:

Small differences make big impressions.

The Graphics

As you can see, the font this time is Aldo the Apache, not Breamcatcher. It's more square, which I like better than Breamcatcher. The real reason for the switch though was because of some "EEEH AM I ALOWED TO USE THIS ACTUALLY EEEGH" problems.

Also, the health (& suit) hud elements have been removed. This is to make things a little more realistic. The suit isn't going to be used anyway for right now, and you can see your health with the quick-info things.

I would mention the skins here, but they've all been covered... except one.

The hands. Yes, the hands are different, if you've noticed. You have GameBanana to thank for that (White Rebel Hands Package V2 -- Hl2.gamebanana.com).

The black-and-white color correction is back because I felt like it. There really isn't any explanation for that now. With the previous story, the black-and-white was a side-effect of vampirism, but now that the story is in the dumps, there is no reason other than it looks cool.

The green hud is still here, again for no reason other than it looks cool. I still can't change the color of the AUX POWER elements other than the background, so if anyone wants to tell me how, I'd appreciate it.
