Post news Report RSS Duke Nukem Forever: Enhanced 1.1 update and future plans

Version 1.1 of DNF: Enhanced has just been released make sure to check it out, also, I will share some plans that I have for the mod.

So, what's included in version 1.1? Well, nothing major, just some fixes and small enhancements, those includes:

  • New shader cache system, stuttering should now be reduced and crashes are eliminated
  • Optional Vulkan rendering, all thanks to the DXVK wrapper.
  • Improved HUD visuals

DNF Enhanced

Of course, there's still some issues that needs to be adressed in the HUD, like the inventory itens (grenades, mines, beer, steroids, holoduke) not displaying, and the Railgun scope zoom just showing a black screen, otherwise the reworked HUD should be a lot better overall.

Plans for the mod:

That's not everything, i'm definitelly not done with the mod and there's a lot of things that I plan to do. For example, currently The Doctor Who Cloned Me DLC is not supported yet, my current goal is making the DLC compatible with the mod, I know that a lot of people like the DLC and I haven't forgotten about it.

Supporting the DLC is more complicated than what I was expecting, I need to figure out a way to merge the main game and DLC files together, since the DLC runs in a separate folder, if I don't merge both there will be a lot of missing animations when running it with the mod.

DLC

When I manage to do this merge, the plan is to join the main game and the DLC together into one extended campaign, you finish the main game and The Doctor Who Cloned will start immediatelly. Making the DLC run with the mod might take some time, but it will definitelly be worth the effort.

I also have plans for altering the existing DNF maps, updating the levels visuals and make them flow a lot better by removing the unfunny jokes and NPCs. That's about it for now, stay tunned for more!

Also, if you want to contribute with the development of Duke Nukem Forever: Enhanced, make sure to check out the Github repository, the mod is hosted there aswell:

It's mod, not MOD. Mod is not an acronym, it is simply short hand for modification.

Hi! I have a question. The crosshair is gone after installing your mod. I deleted my savegames and config files from the userdata folder before installing the mod. I use the vulkan renderer. Do you have an idea why and how to bring back the crosshair?

Thank you!

Thank you very much! Looking forward to a full playthrough with your mod. I am very glad that you give DNF some love. It is not as good as Duke 3D but I like it anyway. Again, thank you very much for your work!
