This article is the formal announcement of Doom Royale (With Cheese)!
Doom Royale will be a 64 player Battle Royale using Doom 2 as the IWAD, and the Zandronum engine as it's base. The speed of gameplay will be unchanged from normal Doom, and when you die, that's not the end for you!
The mod will be hosted on one of our servers as soon as it is feature complete, and the base map is ready for play. To ensure everyone can play whenever they want, 8 bots will be in constant play as well.
Once we are happy with the Mods progress, we will release the WAD for you to host yourself, (Although its not hard to get from Doomseeker!), along with the settings to host your own Royale with Cheese!
What I can tell you so far!
- Doom Royale will take place on a large map featuring Ultimate Doom buildings from across E1.
- All areas will be accessible from the start, no keys required.
- Death is not the end...
- Only one person can win the coveted Royale with Cheese!
What is done so far...
- The scoring system works, and the winner is announced to the server.
- A small number of bots are spawned in low server traffic times.
- Random weapon spawns, ammo spawns and random powerups are spawned across the map.
- Post-death gameplay is in place!
