Report RSS I've been dreading this, what happened to Crypt

I have put this off for a while because Crypt was always a pet project of mine I loved, but for the time being at least, it is dead.

Posted by on

I learned a lot from making Crypt but because of set backs and my interests shifting I had to put a stop to making it for the time being. I want to return to making Crypt again at some point, hopefully when Source 2 comes out. But once again I apologize. I talk all about it in the video below. Thank you guys! Love you.

Unfortunate, but understandable. Stuff gets in the way, you lose interest or motivation, it happens to the best of us. We'll be waiting should you decide to get back to it and make a comeback. <3

Sad to hear this news, especially after such a prolonged moment of silence.

Best of luck in your future endeavors!

I know exactly what you mean, that dam steampipe thingy did kill indeed so unbelieveble great mods that it is simply to awfull to talk about. Never have i seen a game company (valve) go around with its games and engine as they do, and, more awfull. They are still doing it, and, will keep doing it. Because nearly each year or two valve does something that makes mods crash, while they worked fine before.
That is also why i have stopped modding with HL2 and its episodes, after a hand full of mods. As a modder we simply can't trust Valve. Is hard to say, but it is simply the truth! And although i already now know that i will start again ones HL3 is out, even when the chance is very high that that will also go wrong.
My biggest luck was and is, is that i a mainly a mapper. So all my mods are for 99% about new levels, with new models and sounds. But NO coding, NO scripting, at least not custom added. That was the only way to keep modding till now with source. I assume you had much of this in your mod, and then your mod was indeed simply heavely corrupted by steampipe and later updates.
Very sorry for the loss, but, great to hear you still leave the future open for new modding. Because as we both now is it a awesome way to express our feelings, thought and ideas.
keep creating my friend, movies, music, whatever it makes you happy!
greetings,

Leon

Source 2... so... a while then :P

I hope for the sake of the modding community, source 2 comes sooner rather than later... although if we're honestly it's already later.
