Coil is a short singleplayer Half-Life Mod. Story: Following the completion of the newly constructed Sector C Test labs, some older industrial branches of Black Mesa became obsolete, and were being prepared for deprecation by the general maintenance & security division. Some machinery and factory units have already been dismantled, but mysteriously, some time before an important experiment was due to take place in the Anomalous materials lab, an order was sent to begin reassembling certain parts of machinery, particularly the power routers connected to the old prototype teleportation labs. The motives behind this decision were never disclosed by the administration. When the resonance cascade occurred, the crew attributed the system failures and power outages to a fault in the reassembled power router; but when things start to crawl out of walls and eat your colleagues, you know something has gone terribly wrong... ------------------------------------------------- ------- As a member of...

The mod is now in its "Internal Beta" Stage. A lot of things have been finalised and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product my self. The Beta testing team (soon to expand) is hard at work making sure everything works the way it should.
There is however, a lot of work still to be done.

Behind the scenes I've been hard at work, polishing off the first set of maps, writing up news posts, and getting stuff organised and because of this, there have not been many updates.

Unlike the bigger mods Coil runs on the default HL Engine, but when finished, it will feature:

  • 12 action packed maps spanning a multitude of environments.
  • Experience life in Black Mesa as a member of the Maintenance Staff.
  • New Hazard Course teaching you the skills you will need to survive.
  • Adaptive game play: use stealth, or your trigger finger whenever you like.
  • Steam & WON compatible.
  • Use your abilities to repair broken equipment giving you an advantage against your enemy.

And with that, here are 3 new (Moddb Exclusive) preview shots:

Just in case something important comes up, I will be away for a long time and won't be able to get back to you until September. You can email me anyway. I'll get back to it in due time :P

Alright kol, nice to see this one again! I haven't checked out the website in a few weeks, but this is a most pleasant surprise!

It still looks very good and awesome! I also see you're putting those submerged textures to good use. Looks like I have a competitor.. ;)

It's shaped up very well since Issues, keep it up! It's one of the three HL1 mods that I'm looking forward too, and that says a lot.

I like the sound of Adaptive game play. Keep working on it!

The Won capability would refer to computers running pre steam installs of Half-Life (1.1.1.0).
