This mod so interesting! Developer have a huge pile of ideas. And i recommend to play this mod if you think that the ideas priority over the visuality.
Fistly, really nice environment story telling: mod give you enought information about its world.
Technically, mod looks not perfect, but have very pretty visual. Lighting is so artistic. Many attention to small details. Really nice.
Nextly, about gameplay: when i played mod, this was never boring (many interactive things, interesting level exploration, dynamic shooting).
Story, gameplay, features, level design - perfect, but i think author should raise level-artist skill for self.
At the last: I hope that this mod isn't last project of the author, and we'll see more mods by him.
This is a very interesting mod. It has a great atmosphere that fits the mood of the Half-Life universe and very nice lighting. The environment is quite detailed and the mapping is done in a very elaborate way.
One thing I need to point out though, is that certain maps have a few pitch black areas too many, which might get annoying after a while. Despite this, the level design is very good and credible.
All in all, this is a mod well worth playing and I hope to see more mods by the author.
This was a very interesting mod. You can feel the atmosphere each area you go, how well designed and detailed the mapper has put into the mod. Really passionate.
Few issues I've encounter during my playthrough, which were pitch black areas that was starting to become annoying but I can understand the reason to make them look that way because of the abandoned ambiance of the mod (some players might not like at all and hate it) and the overkill of many zombies in two areas to battle with a simple pistol and revolver in Hard mode. By the way, autosave is missing in some places - I felt annoyed to know there wasn't an auto save system.
Overall, great mod, amazing atmosphere, challenging battles, good pacing.
Sad adventure
An absolutely stellar mod from beginning to end!
Blasted Lands takes us to the barren barren skeletal remains of dead cities outside Combine Jurisdiction, something very rarely scene in HL2 modding! Not only that, it excels at environmental storytelling and keen attention to detail. You'll be seeing elaborate sewers, old grocery stores, long abandoned military checkpoints and battle scars of the 7 Hour War!
Gameplay is also super varied with surprise encounters and intricately designed and very memorable set-pieces that stick with me for a long time! The beginning starts off like a survival game with it's very limited resources before switching to full-on action midway once you start developing a decent arsenal!
I ain't spoiling much more, it's worth every minute of playtime!
Better yet, it's also got an MMOD Patch! Give it a go!

Nice mod! The dark atmosphere of the city is a little bit scary. The puzzles and combats are fun to handle. Personally I really love the fight on the rebars after getting the crossbow.
Amazing! The atmosphere, the scavenging, the progression, very good! Only problem is some sounds are loud static, such as rain I think. Other than that, 10 out of 10.
