In 1982 during the Falkland war, a Royal Navy ship is attacked by Argentines and the next thing the ship's cook Nathan knows is that he's stranded on a mysterious island. He explores the island and uncovers it's mysteries.
Well that was a handful.
Probably some of the most confusing events and puzzles I've seen in a mod on this engine. There were some really cool events like, the water bucket, the lantern, and the makeshift bossfight at the end, but also the story and the player actions made 0 sense throughout.
Some of the inside areas were really nicely made, I especially liked the submarine parts at the beginning. The outside areas were pretty underwhelming however and there were a lot of them.
The biggest issue of all, is the mod currently has no crosshair, controls menu, and crashes at the start of the 4th level, due to an update on the engine, and an outdated Modules.cfg on the mod's part. The EyeTracker module needs to be manually replaced, hence requiring modding knowledge on the engine itself to be able to play.
In its current state it's a 6/10, but if some issues were corrected I'd gladly think over my conclusion.
A really clunky mod that feels really empty and has some poor voice acting. I hate to bash on it, but the voice lines feel untouched and the audio for them shows. The story is also just not very interesting, and the level layout is super weird and bland. It's a bit creepy with its atmosphere from time to time, but other than that it just feels pointless.
Final Verdict: 2/10 (Bad)
Good mod, but there is 2 negatives:
- Storytelling by cassette records without subtitles. English is not native language for everyone, reading is easier than listening.
- 1982 year and computers with flat LCD screens (infirmary, undergrounds)?
There's the seed here of a very good mod if the maker continues pushing him self i'm sure he will produce a fan story or TC of high quality.
I also need to give congrats to whoever made the voice acting to this mod, was top quality.
Short, but enjoyable.
Some very interesting feature, as the fight with the metallic monster, never seen.
