Realms 1.20 explores more of Eastern Europe with its eleventh and twelfth civilizations. Powerful heavy cavalry and massable trash are important elements of the Bulgar forces; whereas Bohemians depend on strong archers and gunpowder units, supplemented by affordable Taborites that excel at taking out armored units. Bohemians can also construct small fortress out of wagons, which offer a safe vantage for archers to fire out of.
There are also new random maps designed to incorporate some new ways to play:
Blizzard- The sun barely pierces the eternal storm, casting the entire map in perpetual, snowy gloom. The harsh winds have driven the wolves from their dens, so they and human foes may appear out of the fog without warning.
Boomtown- Quickly raise a huge economy in your small town, bolstered by slave markets and extra starting resources.
Brittania- Forge a powerful new island nation, with the help of Roman encampments willing to form alliances. Legionaries give a potent backbone to early warfare, but cannot be raised in sufficient number to subdue more advanced armies.
Mercantile Forest - Islands of grass in a sea of trees, populated with neutral markets allowing anyone to form a trade route. Two sides of the map will be mostly clear, allowing for very profitable trade routes.
Nightfall- The night dims the vision of all your soldiers and renders the fog of war black as pitch. Aside from the occasional glimmer of starlight, expect to see nothing at any real distance, and be prepared to find anything in the darkness.
Conquest of the Empire- Take command of a dying civilization, beset on all sides by barbarians. Though far past its prime, the remaining Imperial strength is more than a match for any single invader.
