Guides for the skills and character's development- the basics
There is a choice of 85 skills allowing a lot of freedom in customization of your character's strengths, but you can not afford to acquire them all, so let's see how to build something decent.
The general approach is the following: choose at least one firearm to specialize into. Pistol (21-29), blunderbuss (41-49) or musket (51-59). Then some of the 11-15 skills in order to be able to carry a little stock of ammo and get a basic fire power. The pair 21-22 or 41-42 is almost a must have in order to be able to stack some ammo early game.
In terms of melee combat, the hook can not be enhanced, however the thief skills (71-74) synergize well with its usage. The cutlass is natively versatile regarding damage, attack speed and parade, but there are some interesting skills (31-39) out there if you want to dig that direction.
You should also embark some explosive capabilities, this is useful to take down strong enemies, columns and some walls. This is range 61-69 for the handcannon. Skill 49 alone allows to use the blunderbuss as a grenade launcher and is a solid alternative to the handcannon.
Plunderer skill 96 is of a great help to sustain financially.
