Post feature Report RSS Elven Troop Trees

Here's the fourth troop tree preview. In this article Mirkwood and High Elf troop trees will be showcased.

Posted by on

Troops will have one of the following identifiers: A-Archer C-Cavalry I-Infantry H-Horse Archer

Most factions will have multiple troop trees. One from villages and one or more from cities. The noble troops are much more elite but at the same time a lot more expensive and hard to train. Lords will have access to one noble troop tree and their factions militia troop tree.

Every character and troop in the game is placed into a tier from 1-10. Tier 10 is used for heroes and very high quality troops with a lot of difference in between. IE trolls.

Yes, actually they will be first elves to be implemented. I wouldve shown theirs but as i am fully detailing their tree so it will take longer. By this i mean armour and weapons are being planned for each soldier.

[spoiler alert]
Will we see poor old Haldir, and will he die at the Hornburg if you have a questline?

They normally won't be any Elves at Hornhurg nor any quests bringing them there. But you will be able to do that yourself, and they will be present in the siege of Helms Deep custom battle.

Rohan hasn't been in much production at all. Now that Isengard is taking a step back Rohan will come into focus more. After the current projects being worked on are previewed we will start on their trees. Along with them will come armours and equipment:) Appox 2-3 weeks for Rohan trees.

How big is the team, by the way? You keep mentioning "we" but the FAQ doesn't seem to have anything about the team size. Pardon me if I missed it anywhere. But sounds good with Rohan. My favorite faction, so definitely excited to see how that turns out. I'm sure the native game has some anglo-saxon-styled helmets or something you can sneak in, so you don't have to create all new lookalike gear when it already exists in the game.

Was going to have it when the game releases and it becomes more relevant. There are 4 of us doing art, many people that are going to help can't because they need the game to scene, code etc. And yeah this was one of the reasons to delay Rohan, to use the in game items as a base for them. None the less we are going to start some of the armours before and use that idea later on.

Don't think they'd have something like the overly-specific horse helmets and Rohirrim scalemail. Good place to start!

There likely won't be a "smith" unit. However there will be a Eregion troop tree, potentially with the same type of weapons.

I'm missing some axe units in the Mirkwood tree as the Sindar loved to use axes and they had many axe warriors in the battle under the trees.
