Sorry for the long wait, Rhys and I have been busy with work, but we're on holidays for a bit now. Guess what that means? Yeah, you read the title, we're working on 1ON1 3.0 now. Yeah, it is kinda conveniently timed with MOTY, but the changes we want to make probably won't come in before the due date :(
Anyway, our plan is to have 3.0 beta out around Christmas time, and final release a week or two later (New Years).
So what's the plan for 3.0?
Well, things have changed a bit since 2.5 and a LOT since 1.0, so we're going to be redoing a LOT of old work.
First of all, I'd like to welcome SkullTerror to the team, he's going to be building some original animations for us (hooray!)
Now, one of the things that 1ON1 has been known for in the past has been our abundance of maps and weapons. We're going to be cutting down on classes, moving to just Assault, Specialist and Stealth, which will use Assault Rifles, Sub-Machine Guns/Shotguns and Snipers respectively. If there's enough feedback from YOU, the community, we might even make a 3.1 expansion with more guns and more maps. You never know.
So that's the minor changes dealt with. You remember that ill-conceived custom menu that we included in 2.5? The one which crashed on anyone not running English and showed SBX servers in the multiplayer? Yeah, we'll be trashing that, and bringing in a brand new sparkly working one! I'll be putting up my concepts for that reasonably soon, hopefully.
Otherwise, we're hoping to implement a custom loadout screen in 1ON1 3.0. You know Wookie Sniper Mod, and every new Battlefield since Bad Company, how you can change your weapon, equipment, attachments, etc. on the loading screen? YEAH! We're bringing it to 1ON1! Woop woop! Now, I'm terrible at coding, so my concept for the loadout screen will probably not come to fruition, but I can show you how I hope it comes out!
