Description
South African rebels and Boeres led by Manie Maritz, who joined the struggle in favor of German South West Africa. The aim of the rebels was to fight against British rule and gain independence from the former Transvaal Republic.

One might say that, because in 1914 a revolt led by Manie Maritz intended to restore the Old Republic of South Africa or better known as the Republic of Transvaal. A small contingent of Boeres led by Maritz crossed the border with present-day Namibia to join the forces of the German South-West Africa.
