I possess an interest in military-themed video games set from WWII and beyond. Having joined ModDB I hope to provide useful, constructive feedback to the projects I take interest in, while simply sitting back and watching the magic unfold on so many more. Some games I've enjoyed include Company of Heroes, the Command and Conquer series, ArmA 2/3, Battlefield 2/ 2142, PlanetSide 2, Sins of the Solar Empire, Supreme Commander, and the Tom Clancy universe. Currently I am also a student majoring in communications.

Report RSS On the Radar: "Intersteller Marines"

Here is a game you, the person reading this, just might find interest in.

Zero Point Software's "Interstellar Marines" [ Interstellarmarines.com ] is not just any other video game.

Combining the elements of a FPS and RPG, players will be thrown in the future where man travels in space, and creates experiments where sharks walk on land! To be broken into multiple stages (releases), the game is set to feature a single player/ co-op story with open ended level design, realistic aesthetics such as rain on your faceplate and even dynamic in-game communication dependent on if you have you helmet's faceplate up or down.

It is coined as a "AAA Indie" under development that is trying something you likely aren't use to seeing.

As pulled directly from their website [ Interstellarmarines.com ]:

"So why should you care about AAA Indie?

  1. Gamers get a say in what games get to the market
  2. Gamers can get behind the scenes of the development of games they fancy. No more closed doors development
  3. Games can be priced and distributed much more liberally
  4. It adds to the diversity of games available
  5. It breaks down barriers of entry, opening the games industry up to a new and independent generation of game developers

What is AAA Indie?

  1. AAA Indie is AAA games done independently from publishers
  2. AAA Indie is the gamer and the developer, no one else
  3. AAA Indie is development with open doors, so gamers can track games in development
  4. AAA Indie lets the gamers 'vote' for the games they want to play - simply by expressing their interest
  5. AAA Indie is open for anyone with a dream a the will to deliver on that dream"

As it goes to show, this is quite the ambitious project, one that can use all the help it can get. The development team has just recently (as of this posting) made its push onto the Kickstarter program [ Kickstarter.com ] and needs your support.
So please, if you have even the slightest interest then visit their website [see the top of this post].

There are demos to play, a forum to be apart of, videos to watch and much more!
