If you pre-order to do you get access to an alpha/beta? Or do we have to wait for the game to be released? :D

Seriously, I'm dying for you to explain this in more detail. I'm fully aware of how minecraft was developped, I backed it way back in early alpha.

You would get builds every now and then, and get to see the progress. Some builds were stable, others were ****. It was never guaranteed that a build would be amazing. Perhaps more towards the end, they were a little more stringent with updates but still; there was for a long time, at least 1 build per month.

Have you looked at the calander recently? It's nearly been what, 5 months since the last update? If you look at the reasons why, it's always that they added a new feature and it's causing XYZ issues. A bit of a normal thing in early development when you are adding new stuff.

But my point is; I want to try this unstable version. I didn't "pre-order" the game thinking I was only going to get the game was it was fully stable and without any issues. I bought the tech demo, knowing I was going to savor the early Alpha builds, and later beta.

I just feel that they've cut off the flow of the sweet alpha access, and are sitting behind a wall of "But it's not ready". One of the reasons posted, and it is very sad, is because they want to avoid getting bad press for an unstable build. How idiotic is that? If someone goes off ranting and raving because an alpha build isn't to their liking, that person is just an idiot. And they should stick to buying released games only, and forgoe the whole Alpha build process.

Anyway, I stand behind my statement that you simply failed to undersand what I was trying to say, because that quote explains jack nothing about my complaint.

I don't understand your reply. My qualms are from the lack of access to said updates. Not that the game is being built in incremental stages. Perhaps you misunderstood my post.

They are foregoing the whole alpha build release concepts and will only release the game when it' has all features fully implemented, with zero bugs. (I'm exagerating, but it's not far off at this point.)

I just wish they'd just release builds already. Obviously there will be bugs, it's the alpha right? The whole 'we want to release something stable' act is beyond tedious at this point. I'd be more than happy to run into bugs and die for no reason. And do you know what's going to be in the first release they do after all this time? Bugs, and surely lots of em.

From what I can see there are constant updates being uploaded, but they aren't posted it in the news section. If you look at the latest news it dates from August 29th. But the most recent build when you run the game is from Oct 15th. So it might be best to go on the game's actual forums to get updates and follow up on the latest patch notes and such.

Cheers

I don't understand why it seems that you automatically sell alien artefacts when you find them. But then I noticed you still have them back at your base. Confused.

Evidently, first game mention in the inspiration. Love what you guys are doing with the interface, it's such a pleasure to use.

Instant buy! :)

I hope you guys give props to Dwarf Fortress somewhere on here or your forums. I mean it's quite obvious where you've taken the inspiration from. :) Looks nice.

Things that have been implemented so far:

1) Save on quit (sleep, & map transitions)
2) Map transistions.
3) Zombie migration across "map cells"
4) Progressive increase of zombies/day.
5) Added: Thirst, Boredom, Stress
6) SUPER CRAZY LIGHTING SYSTEM (really adds tremendous ambiance)
7) A few city utilities breaking down after X amount of time. (Very much WIP)
8) New items & Recipies
9) Ability to crafter walls, floors, windows, doors & stairs. (Out of wood)
10) Map cell size "quadrupled".
11) Started implementing lua scripts, a few values are exposed and can be tweaked. And also I think they've fully unlocked the modding for recipies via lua scripts. (I'm not a modder, not sure, I just tweak hunger/thirst/sleep a bit)

That's pretty much it I think. Probably forgetting a few things, but those are the major changes for now. :)

I'm assuming you were bored the day you left your comment and decided to nitpick at this game's description?

It's true that the term 'hertz' is commonly used to refer to the refresh rate of monitors, but the term 'hertz', regardless, still means cycles per second, as you pointed out yourself. So one could say, this games displays frames at a rate of 60 hertz.

Were you that bored? lol

Ouch... Vonys is right it's basically twice the price. :/ Great awesome game though! Hours just melt into it. (Given that it's your type of game)

Grats to wizkoder and "the team" (if there is one :) ).

This looks like very nice take on the roguelike/ZangbangTk genre!

@Wizkoder, would you do us the pleasure of listing just how many spells are there in the game? I mean, I was looking at the 'magic' skills, and are those spells, or schools of magic? Are there more than one spell per skill/school?

I'm always a big fan of magic in fantasy games, so I was curious as to how deep your magic system goes! Looks really interesting!

Thanks in advance!

Good points,
Although I'm assuming the sound stuff is all WIP. So hopefully it'll get better as they move forward.

Totally agree with you on the citizen "specialities". Like making someone a gatherer, or a lumberjack. And I'd like for it to go even further, and include actual skills and have it so that the more a citizen performs a task the better he/she gets at it. In fact, I'm hoping that a lot of the DF concepts get put in this game. Could make for a very interesting finished product!

Anywyas, like I said before great foundation you guys have here! :)

Sounds like the the update made savegames incompatible. It would make sense given the number of changes that were done to tiles and such.

Oh yes, I got that from a Youtube Video! :D WEll, except for the roof toggle, I was simply using the transparency with CTRL.

The thing is that some of my farms are inside the ramparts, so it makes me feel strange to be growing crops inside. :S I know, i'm silly. I'm assuming that the game mechanics dont' negatively affect "indoor" farming? :)

Credit Card overloaded from Xmas purchases, does this mean I'll wait to buy Towns? Nope! I actually bought it yesterday! :D Strange how my CC let me buy it altough it's full. :P

Great game guys! Has a little DF feel to it, which is great! Slowly got the hang of the basics. PEOPLE EAT A LOT THOUGH. :O

Oh and a little 'issue' I noticed is that, if you wall in your town, with the new ceiling/roof feature well, your whole city end up under a roof. :S I don't know if ramparts are things that people do, but if you do, you'll have a nice surprise. :D

Truly amazing series, kept me busy for countless hours when I was a kid. Definitely left a major impression on me.

About the price point, given that almost all old DOS games are being repackaged and sold for 9.99$ or more, I think the price is ok. Also, to those that bring DOXBox as a detterent to the price, even Sierra's relaunch of it's famous 'Quest' series, all the games are run through DOXBox aswell. And this without any "additions" or bonus material.

People are pretty darn stingy. Some people pay 59.99$ for games that have 8 hour storyline with almost no replay value. These games are hubs of entertainment, hours on end. I think that 6$'s isn't asking too much. If you ask me, some of the newer titles being released should be at this price, and games like this more expensive.
