Little Girl from the Ghetto. Risen from the rubble.
I'm slowly going through playing some of the games that I haven't had the time to play since I've been without a job (though I did get one today), and one of the games I was super interested in before was The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
Now, I did play the original XCOM since it was offered not too long ago on PS3 as a free download for Plus members (which I am). Needless to say, I hated it. I didn't like the style of gameplay AT ALL. Completely a tactical strategy based (as in positioning men to certain points and where to shoot, etc.) game which isn't necessarily my thing. There was nothing else. If they were accidentally out of cover, there was no recovery for them. The premise was honest and original, but it was either one of those games you either really liked or you really didn't...and I didn't.
However, when I saw some gameplay footage of The Bureau, I was absolutely intrigued. It was a first person shooter with tactical elements. Now, while I'm not a huge fan of a strictly tactical game, one with just elements would be fine. The game is set in 1962, another element that thrilled me. There's nothing I love more than games set in the past with modern elements and equipment. Which is what this had.
Without giving any spoilers, the main character is fine, if not somewhat predictable. I do wish they would have worked on him a little bit. This game is gorgeous, character textures and scenery are absolutely beautiful. This was a vast improvement from the original XCOM.
Go play it!
