I have uninstalled and reinstalled inside the Steam - KOTOR2 folder however it is still not showing as being active?

Hi,
Does the latest patch work with the Steam version of the game?
How will we know it works?
Will I need to create a new save?
Where do I save the patch ive downloaded?
Sorry for all the questions im a little eager to get into and play without so many bugs.
