RE-POST: Hey, sorry for posting on the page again
I tried posting your profile last night but you seem to have missed it. Anyway, I was able to write a mission statement for the faction relations and how each faction should play and such. Would you like to see it? And if so, do you want the full version or just cliff notes?
Also, how do you feel about bringing regular feral zombies into the game? They only appear in survival mode, and it always struck me as weird how they never show up in base coc. Im not sure how much work it would be, but I thought it would be cool to add these guys back in.
Finally, I was wondering if there is anything you wish for me to do for the mod? And as a side note, would you mind adding me up on steam or something so we can communicate a bit more easily?

RESPONSE: While I admire your enthusiasm, I think it's important you understand I'm not on Moddb to make friends or to share actual/typical social networking contact details.

Nor do I have the technical means to implement anything that doesn't have pre-existing code. And even if it does exist, there are a limited number of things that can be added (plugins are always a safe bet) to modpacks without causing immediate CTDs or that mess up scripting in unexpected ways. I've looked into adding civilian zombies, it clearly did not work in earlier builds (as although the files and code was there, like you said, you never come across one outside survival mode).

I don't want to come off as cold, but I would also ask that posts to the base mod download and patch page comments section be kept to troubleshooting and bugs with the modpack/compilation itself.

Clearly your interested in mod creation and like almost everyone who starts getting into it in a serious manner you need to figure out a lot of the basics (and experiment) yourself. Try to figure out what small things you can change that cumulatively add up into what feels like big changes.

What I would recommend for an immediate project is find the file 'gamedata/configs/creatures/game_relations.itx' and scroll down till you get to the 2 fraction relation tables. Where you'll see fraction names and values ranging from 4000 to -4000.

It's complex and fairly annoying to edit (use notepad++, it's free to download) but it will allow you to put your fraction relation ideas into practice by messing around with that basic code in notepad+.

Like I said, feel free to ask advice on my page (I may not always be readily available however), and when you got something that feels right to you, post it as an addon for my modpack (and in fact any one using lost to the zone for CoC 1.4.22, which is a much larger audience). Others who have downloaded the pack would likely appreciate the diversity of options as would I as it encourage others to customize their versions as they saw fit rather than asking for changes to the base modpack I'm intending to make (as you can never really make everybody happy).

ah
and yea, its alright. I do think modding would be a really cool thing to try, but its kinda daunting and im not sure if it would be worth it. I mean, Ive always wanted to make the bolts look more like how they do in the movie (i.e. have ribbons tied to them and the thrower would have to swing them before throwing), but again, it is all very intimidating and daunting
Im sorry to be so annoying, and I completely udnerstand and respect your decision. I sometimes get very excited and carried away with things, and I love to help out with things im passionate and/or excited about. I hate to be such an annoying prick, and im sorry if I got a bit too close for comfort. Ngl, its really fun to help iron out what I see as one of the best stalker experiences out there. Plus, you seem to be a very busy person and I guess me bothering you constantly doesnt help much. I have been kinda obsessed with helping you test out this mod for the past week and I kinda want to help it become the best it can be (hence to why I am still stumbling around the swamps looking for doc).
I can stop bothering you with ideas and such if you want. I dont want to mess up your workflow or otherwise give you something else to worry about. Forgive me if ive been too much of a nuisance.
Anyway, I hope for the best for ya, and hope things will turn out better for the mod and such.

Hey no worries, its the beauty of the digital reality we live in that ideas can be shared over platforms like this.

And all this modding is spare time stuff for my enjoyment after-all, its not that much work (the bulk of it happened prior to the initial release). And it's important small scale modders like myself say that from time to time to take away alot of what is perceived as daunting before you actually start diving into what is really basic coding (in terms of file editing).

Anyway, your feedback is appreciated and welcome, but I'm afraid I'm not looking for creative input on this project. Another reason why I would encourage you to apply it to a project of your own, no matter how small it might initially be (my first posted mod was an altered version of the comparatively microscopic rules.ini files for RedAlert96 for instance).

And If you manage to complete the storylines and unlock the bonus fractions, or find it's broken, hit me up on my page.
