Empire Realism & Absolutum Dominium

Mod review

Ruins the game. Another mod to fall victim to the "oh muskets were soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo innacurate back then." Bullcrap!

As a student of and user of 18th century gunnery myself, the inaccuracy of the smoothbore muskets in this mod are not realistic. A well trained musketman can hit his target up to 100 yards.

At 20 yards, where most of the battles are gonna be fought in this game, the carnage is actually more REALISTICALLY portrayed in the vanilla game.

Sure, rifled guns were more accurate, but these things worked as well and did most of the killing during these battles in the real 18th century.

I am just fed up that these modders (badly influenced by darthmod to this day) basically mod out all the experienced musketeers for untrained hobos and slap the label "rEaLiStIc gAyMpLaY" on it.

Well, it's not realistic. It is exaggeration. It is farb.

Empire II

Mod review

Dear modders: cut the "muskets were SOOOOOOOOOOO inaccurate at point blank" crap.

That's all this mod does, repeats the same ***-backwards stereotype that 18th century gunnery was so ineffective you might as well just bayonet charge up and down the field.

For example: I have line infantry between I'd imagine 10 to 15 real life comparison yards between them and the enemy. 100 men fire a volley. How many of the enemy fall dead? 5. Only 5 men hit at POINT FREAKING BLANK. Smoothbore muskets had an effective range of 100 yards. That of course didnt mean you could go sniping with it, but with a group of a hundred or so men you could induce several injuries or casualties with a volley at, yes, 100 yards.

At 25-50 yards, nearly every trained 18th century musketeer WILL hit something. At 10 yards, a deadly massacre is what would happen in real life, making my experience with this mod ridiculously unrealistic. It honestly makes the vanilla game REALISTIC in comparison. Fail.

This mod is an affront to historically accurate gameplay and does little to differentiate itself from similar mods of the same mindrot that came before, namely Darthmod. That's all this is, a new bloated Darthmod.

For a true "Empire Total War II" or "what this game should have been like" go with Absolutum Dominium.

The units are gorgeous. The music variety is hit or miss. The gameplay is an atrocity.

>I march my well-trained infantry up to a group of pikemen, virtually point blank. In real life they'd probably be only 5 or 10 yards away
>100 or so men in the front rank fires a volley
>only 5 pikemen drop dead. POINT-FREAKEN-BLANK

OKAY lemme try naval battle:
>battle lasts over an hour, cannons are so inaccurate and ineffective even, yes, at point blank.

This mod suffers terribly in that it over exaggerates the inaccuracies of 18th century gunnery. (I would know, I've fired these things personally, it's not this bad irl)

It is so ***-backwards and overrated. The infantry units look beautiful, but that's it.

Not fun. Failure. Overblown.

Absolutum Dominium

Mod review

Amazing mod, but please slow down a little and fix the bug that causes the battle music to bug out during campaign battles.

You produce great new visual updates and campaigns now for the past few updates, but the music being lost during battles is such a bummer!
