I can't get any mods to work because the filepath that the game gives me for mods doesn't exist. Anyone else having this problem?

I didn't find a "Total Gaming" directory, so I just copied the folder over my old "Sins of a Solar Empire" folder. Windows didn't ask me to replace any files, and when I started the game, nothing looked any different. Did I do anything wrong, and if not, what differences should I notice when playing the game?
