Already voted on greenlight for this great game some time ago. Hope you get it up on steam soon. It's a must-buy for me :)

Partially. It's not a clone or copy of Civilization, thouth Civ has clearly been an influence during development of my game.
There are lots of differences between the two, e.g. there are now different ages, the region's are predefined (no creating of your own settlements) and there's no exploration.
On the other hand you have complete turn-based hexagonal battle when fighting for regions, you can hire staff, do espionage and sabotage and much more.
So if you like Civ, then you may also like my game ;)
Hey there, the logs should be in your user directory, in the sub directory called "ProjektW_Phase2". That directory should contain a "log.html". Could you post it here? It may help me finding out why the game won't start on your machine.
What graphics card do you have? The requirements are pretty basic and any OpenGL 2.0 compatible card should do.
I recently released a native version for linux 64 Bits. You can grab it over from Saschawillems.de
That version contains a native 64-Bit binary and should work on any more-or-less recent 64-Bit distro without the need for 32-Bit libs.
Sadly that's not possible at the moment. The UI is resolution independent, so font size is the same, no matter what resolution you select.
I plan to implement some kind of user-selectable font scaling (at least for the tutorial) for the future, so users with smaller displays have an option to improve readability.
Yes, that's one of the AI's current problems. The AI-controlled nations all have problems keeping up with high pollution / low loyalty levels. Though that's something I want to tackle at some point, at least when I get some spare time to work on the AI.
I simulated hundreds of battles and never had a crash. Do you have the log file? It's in your documents\ProjektW_Phase2 directory and called "log.html". Could you send it to webmaster @ saschawillems.de?
That log file should help me locate the problem.
Sorry, there is no public release (or mod) with the GUI shown in that video. And yes, it looks mighty great in a video, but believe me, there was a reason I replaced that GUI with the current one.
Though it looks fine, it had the big problem of only one "window\" being visible at one time, it wasted a loot of screen scape due to it's curved nature etc. That's the reason I removed it from the game.
Does that really happen every time you simulate a battle? There is a rare bug that can crash the game on the battlefield, but that shouldn't happen every time you try to simulate a battle.
But I'll take a look at the code.
What error message do you get? Are your graphics card drivers uptodate and do they support OpenGL 2.1?
That's a bug I'm trying to fix with one of the coming releases. It's a beta anyway, so bugs are to be expected ;)
And this one has been reported several times but is pretty hard to reproduce, but I'll hope to catch that one in one of the coming releases.
Thanks. I love it when people compare my game to such commercial titles, it kind of honors me ;)
And yes, the game is influenced a lot by civilization as well as panzer general. Two of my all-time favorite games.
Yeah, this is a known bug that I'll fix in one of the coming release ;)
I see you're using a 64 Bits Linux. Do you need to install some compatibility libs for running 32 Bit applications? Some people already asked me for a native 64-Bits linux version because of that. I actually have a 64 Bit Linux running in a VM where I could compile such a version.
I guess the problem here comes from the fact that I packaged the linux reelease under windows, thus losing the execution bit on the script and executable. So I'll package the linux release on linux itself then for future releases.
As for the lib_path on desura : Dunno how to change / fix that. The desura files (mcf) are made by the desura client and I thought they had the same contents / paths as the game itself. But I'll take a look at it.
Thanks for your feedback!
Well, I actually thought about implementing different features, but not historical ones. WW2 has been done to death (and would be problematic here in germany due to use of forbidden symbols), so if I ever get to release another scenario it would be something completely different. Something like a war between heaven and hell or a territorial fight for a new planet (or even multiple planets) is something I´d like to do at some poibt. But first I´ll finish the current version of rhe game :)
Thanks for your extensive feedback :)
@Logfile : You can find it in your documents\ProjekW_Phase\log.html.
@Pollution : I guess I'll have to tweak that. It's already lowered compared to earlier betas, but there's also currently a bug with ecology buildings (that counter pollution) not getting constructed. So the next release should make this easier.
@Intro : Thanks for hinting me at this. A lof ot the english translations were made in a rush. So together with the tutorial there's still a lot of proof-reading ahead ;)
@Additions : Naval warfare is something I'm always thinking about, but currently I don't have a clue on how to implement them. Maybe I'll ad building less "regions" for the sea, but I'm not sure if this will ever make it into the game (though it would be a great addition).
And yes, the AI isn't perfect (yet). I plan on making it a better contender, but creating a good AI isn't easy and takes up lots of time.
I guess that's related to the issue of economic buildings never getting placed that other people already reported.
I'm currently looking into that issue hoping to fix it for the next release.
Thanks for the information, will check the executable bit for the next release.
And libbass.so is actjually bundled, you should find it in the linuxetras subfolder of the game, and the startprojectw.sh script actually looks there too.
64-Bits shouldn't be a problem (at least not for windows). I'm developing on 64-Bits anyway, so the game was mostly tested on such machines.
Could you please send the logfile to webmaster AT saschawillems.de , so I can take a closer look at it. Maybe it's because the graphics card doesn't support certain features.
And thanks for the kind words. Getting compared to Civilization makes me feel a bit proud ;)
And don't say your games won't be as good as this one! When I started out my games didn't look and play as polished as this one. So with enough time and patience you should be able to create good games too :)
Thanks for your kind words, that's what keeps me motivated on creating free games ;)
As for the global project not advancing, even though you meet the requirements : I guess it's a bug. I'll take a look at that.
@Number 1 :
The english translation of the tutorial was kinda rushed, and that's where all the spelling errors come from. The tutorial is pretty huge, and once I get some more time to work on the game I'll take a look at the english one and fix all the spelling and wording errors.
@Number 2 :
Very odd, I haven't noticed that bug on my own playtestings and wasn't aware of that. But it seems like a serious problem, so I'll take a look into that issue as soon as possible.
Thanks for letting me know.
Does that mean the game won't run under linux? I've included a start script with the game for linux, and it worked on the linux boxes I tested. But I'm not a linux expert, so if there's a way of making it easier for linux users to play the game just let me know :)
That's bad and shouldn't happen. Do you see the loading screen, or does it crash even before that? What hardware do you use (mainly operating system and graphics driver). You should also find a log file in your documents\ProjektW_Phase2\ called log.html that you can send me via PM or mail. That log should include additional information for locating the problem.
Thanks for your kind words. I hope you enjoy playing the game as much as enjoy working on it ;)
And I actually work as a software developer / engineer using my favorite programming language (Delphi, that's what my games are are made with), and I love my job, though it's not in the gaming industry.
Hey there!
Any reason you gave my game only a 1 out of 10 without any hints at why you scored it so low? Did it crash or were there any problems playing it?
I'm making my games in sparetime, so besides countless hours of work they don't cost me anything. That's why I release them as freeware.
Yes, the final game will be freeware too. All my games are freeware titles, and it's currently only called an "open beta" because it's not finished yet.
So the final version will be freeware too, just like it's predecessor "Phase 1" :)
Why do the battles look like a giant mess? It's just a plain hexagonal battlefield with turn-based battles (think of "Panzer General"). And since the player can change the camera you can play it from close (like in the video) or just look down at the whole battlefield.
Just wanted to download the last release from your blog, but it seems the download links are broken.
Instead of links I only get [wpdm_file id=26] (which I guess is the link format for your wordpress download plugin ;) )
Any chance of fixing them so people can take a look at the game?
