Yes, there are still some quite slow parts in the game. Like the short-range pathfinder still isn't updated, and uses quite inefficient code (which gets worse when units start bumping into each other). The AI also isn't so fast, and becomes really slow when it gets blocked with walls or in some other way.

So the only hint for now is to play with a low amount of units (not a lot of players and a low population cap), and play open (don't block the AI but kill it).

Yes, there's Atlas, though there are currently some issues with Atlas being quite slow (the game is optimised for common game cases, which doesn't inlude moving buildings or changing terrain, so updating those caches is often slower than wanted).

Btw, the game is completely open-source, and we mostly use free tools to make the game. So any tools we have available for content creation, you can use too to make your own content (just ask what we use if you have doubts).

The game is about the 500 BC to 1 BC timeframe. At that point, there's not a lot known about the Norse, and they didn't have a big empire for sure.

There are however mods around that include a Norse faction in a different timeframe. You may want to look for Millennium AD.

We provide east-asian fonts and translations through a mod: Sourceforge.net (it's an intermediate solution, until we have a better font renderer, and don't need these big files).

There's more documentation here: Trac.wildfiregames.com , however, the Japanese documentation is more up-to-date.

Note that there's also a mod adding a chinese faction (made by a separate modding team): Wildfiregames.com

It you have questions, you can always drop by on the forums.

We're having serious problems with Mac. OS X changed a lot of stuff, such as available C++ compilers. Some libraries we use don't compile on Mac any more. And on top of that, the Mac of the dev who usually made the Mac packages is broken, and in for repair.

As these issues are all Mac specific, and there's only one dev on the team left with a working Mac, it's hard for us to give estimates.

But we try to get it compiled again, and if it works, we will release a new Mac version compatible with the A16 released for Windows and Linux.

The date for the final version can't be determined yet. It depends a lot on the available time for artists and programmers. But we try to release an alpha a few times per year, and are now trying to solve the final issues to release a new one.

The work on the mod has gained some momentum again, and everything is being updated for A16: Github.com

Btw, what's about that buluOS? We're (as in WFG) is working on translations too, but Chinese won't be ready for the next version: Transifex.com

If the buluOS guys are interested, they can just start translating it.

(I also wonder how they did the fonts, so if you can get me a link, I'd be happy).
