that will really depend on the mod. for this one, you should only need an orange box game (hl2:ep2)

as the new episodes come out, they update the game engine. so thats why you will find some mods require some games.

in general they will need either
Orange box (hl2:ep2,portal,tf2)
or
Episode one (hl2,hl2:ep1,css)

Yes that could be an idea to do the stargates like that.

And I totally agree with you that the other mods have crap gameplay.
i i intend to do the best i can and make it much better than the other ones

Well, I dont think that curse will hit us.

I hope to do some pretty epic things in this game.
Please comment with features you would like to see in it, and if they are good, i will do my best to get them implamented.
