Airborne

Mod review

Co-Op review: Oddly enough, I figured this mod deserved a 6.5, and low and behold, as of the date of writing, the global average is 6.8. With 12 maps available in co-op, this mod delivers a good selection, including some of the greatest Battlefield 1942 maps: Tobruk, Midway and Kursk. Sadly, many of the maps have but one spawn point for both parties, regardless of which flags have been captured. Furthermore, there is NO player or team indicator when targeting another soldier or vehicle, which makes avoiding friendly fire very difficult. Three maps were too unstable to play co-op without the game crashing. I accounted for but one new vehicle, a civilian station wagon with no camera view aside from in the dirty cabin with dirty windshield, which makes the vehicle difficult to drive (also, other players see you and your passenger as standing in the vehicle, with half of your player character's body sticking out of the roof). Finally, the engineer class does not have a wrench! This means that the engineer can only fix other vehicles provided that he is in a vehicle himself (and therefore can never fix his own vehicle). Worth noting: the Anti-Tank weapon (Javelin) is highly ineffective in close range and against foot soldiers. Add to this that grenades are generally 2 per player.

Co-Op review: the enemy's artificial intelligence is extremely proficient (so much so that you get sniped from miles away it would seem. Certain aircraft (certain helicopters and planes) cannot be boarded by the client, else the game will crash. Certain maps in co-op also face stability issues, as gameplay in these maps can cause the game to crash for both host and client. Finally, vehicles are scarce and frequently, enemy vehicles are 'locked' and cannot be commandeered by the opposing team. However, a good handful of maps do function in co-op and the challenge is certainly there.

Allied Intent Xtended

Mod review

Co-Op review: Easily one of (if not the) best co-op mods available for Battlefield 2. New weapons, new vehicles, new maps, the ability to play many maps co-op in 16, 32 and 64 player variations, simply put: days and weeks of replayability and fun!

Based on co-op experience: In co-op, but one map is supported. The US forces have their regular fare of weapons, but no vehicles. The zombies have BUT a knife that has the power of a p90 (albeit close range melee). Given this, the battle is HIGHLY unbalanced in favour of the US forces. It is highly recommended that you have a ratio of 3:1 or even 4:1 for zombies in order to make this co-op experience a challenge
