Me too. ;) lol!
Thanks for the kind words guys. It has been a tough couple weeks, with not much work getting done. We will get some screenshots in the Source engine up for you soon, the test we have been doing have given some VERY nice results. Also, we may have a rather large announement in the near future.
HL2DM is really, really fun!! There is just something so satisfying about hurling a filing cabient at someone and slamming them into a wall. Whether the gimmick will still be fun after days and days of playing is another story, though.
Just another note on the track. If anyone is interested in checking out Dave's other work you can head to his website - Rattic.co.uk. He is a very talented guy.
People whom I have told the story to (fully, not just the teasers you're gonna see on the site) have really liked it. It's different than most stuff out there. Also, I am planning on putting alot of cutscenes in the mod with a new character model, and new zombie models (low poly, and with different skins so that I can put, say, 30 zombies on screen without having to worry about lag) Hopefully this mod can be the beginning of people making more stuff like it ;)
Thanks for the comment.
I can assure you there is no evil corporation behind this village ;) In the end I doubt any one will be comparing it to Resident Evil. Sure, there are zombies bu the plotline is practically a polar oposite of the RE games.
Here are some things I will be adding to the game to make it feel different than Doom 3.
- Custom textures, as you can see in the shots, the maps don't look at all like Doom 3
- Hopefully some custom skins for the zombies, make them look more like townsfolk
- New weapons models
- Custom melee weapons
- Replacing the flashlight with a torch
The most important thing I will be adding, though, is the journal system. I will be replacing the PDA with the journal. Basically as you go through the game you will pick up peoples journals (in their house etc) to reveal pieces of the story and reveal to you what is going on with this village.
Any suggestions or comments are welcome.
