I personally hold Doom as my favorite game of all time. I loved the game before I ever heard of Brutal Doom. And once I did, Doom has never been the same again for me. Unfortunately there is only 2000 words I can use in a review so I can't go through EVERYTHING I like about this mod. I guess what I should start with is that the complete overhaul of this game is downright amazing! I never knew that a game, let alone Doom, could be modded so much as to change the entire feel of the game! This mod takes all of the good things from Doom and adds even more by combining elements from modern shooters while keeping the fast and brutal action of the original Doom. And speaking of brutal, lets get to the main feature of this mod. The Brutality. Oh god. The Brutality! If you ever thought Mortal Kombat was gory then you have never even heard of this mod. Ever wanted to blow a arm of an Imp and then use him as a meat shield? Done. Ever wanted to blow a horde of Zombiemen into tiny little meat jibblets with a rocket launcher? Done. Ever wanted to tear the spine out of a Baron of Hell predator style? Done! And that is just scraping the surface of Brutal Doom. The weapons have been revamped to making them even more powerful to add even more Brutality to the mix. Blowing the head off of an Imp with a shotgun and watching him flail around like a beheaded chicken while a fountain of blood sprays from its gaping neck is unbelievably satisfying. Another big feature is the fatality system. After picking up a Berserk pack you can perform a fatality on any of the main enemies. These are short, satisfying and of course, Brutal. And even though all of this sounds like it stacks up in the players favor, it is far from easy. There are multiple difficulty options ranging from the original difficulty's to new ones added for this mod. Well, I'm running out of space so I'll have to wrap this up. To sum up. If you love Doom. PLAY IT! If you like shooters. PLAY IT! If you like games. PLAY IT!
