The Il-28 made its first flight in Indonesia on October 4 1959 at Kemayoran Airport. For the first stage, eight units were sent by sea and received the previous month. This first type of jet bomber was a two-engined one, produced under license in Czechoslovakia with the capacity to carry three tons of bombs and a combat radius of more than 2,000 km. Apart from carrying bombs, this aircraft is also equipped with a 23 mm Nudelman-Rikhter NR-23 cannon under the nose of the aircraft and displays the same type of cannon in the tail as a defensive weapon.
