I was part of the game design to have crappy textures (almost Paint made) and ultra low poly meshes.

Nevertheless, we know a lot of people want to play "pretty" mods. :)

We are not really working anymore on Mammouth party by the way (just a plan to code a cell shader and an edge detection/black thick line shader... maybe). Our lifes caught us back. :p

Thank you all for your feedbacks, especially to you Lucious. One can see you have been part of a mod, you know how work must sometimes be done on the inside of the mod development. :)

About gameplay, most of the devteam seems to prefer Action oriented gameplay. I would have prefered a more tactic oriented gameplay but democracy wins. On a side note, this gameplay decision could change with the modifications of the devteam member list (some don't have time anymore, others join us etc). I cannot just tell what is planned next unfortunately, even though it seems to be going towards arcade/action.

@ShadowFight0r: you do prefer spheric blast, don't you? Well maybe some of the other Stargate mods for Source will please you then. I cannot guarantee their blasts will be spheric but I think at least one of them has sphreic blasts. Just wait for their release. ;)

@Nokiaman: Look carefully, they are not the same. Anders could show you the various process that it took to build the SGTC2 P90. On the other hand, as all ingame P90 must be as close as possible to the real P90, they always end up being similar if they are good enough. Think about it. :)

We plan on releasing the first beta in June, but the schedule might be... how could I say it... tight. Well, wait & see! The SGTC2 devteam will do its best to offer you this beta on time.
We are as frustrated as you are by the absence of public Stargate based mod on HL2 => we really want to make this mod public. :P

Keep watching SGTC2!

No word? ^^

Give the mod some time, it should be able to rise & shine.

Sinking: we're about 20 years old in the devteam.

We wanted the game to look toony, with textures-made-with-aint, ultra-low-and-ugly models and so on. It's the Mammouth Party's touch. :D

The grass texture reminds me of Turok (90's game). Still, we've used the physical engine of Source to be able to grab meat pieces, to use a flying vehicle code, to create a cell shading effect (we're still looking for a coder because HLSW doesn't like our coder), to be able to caillou jump... erhm.. yeah.

I've noticed the graphical look of the mod disturbs some people. At first glance, it's logical: all the other mods try to have nice textures, low poly but nice looking models, smooth animations and so on...

We don't.

We're even looking for the contrary. What's the point of looking for hilarious gameplay if you have to spend hours on graphical design? We chose to make low poly models, stretched texture, paint made textures... just to add to the fun of the mod. Bored of HL²DM, CSS or DOD:S? Just take a break and come play Mammouth Party! :D

You will see another esthetic concept, another gameplay concept, another play concept.

Still, I have to admit Mammouth Party really becomes fun only when there is enough people on the server. :-/
