With only just 3 core members still around, progress has dwindled.

Therefore we have seen fit to archive all the information we have on www.dustwars.blogspot.com,, if in any way they may help other mod developers get in touch with the universe. Although the modification itself will never be able to be completed due to insufficient members, the core members will still be working on fiction based on the Dustwars universe.

It is the next best thing we can do. If any mod developers are interested in the universe, that will be where all information can be found.

On the archive website you will find:
- trailer
- concept art
- fledgling Hiigaran language in development
- Hiigaran culture
- backstory

More information will be posted there when they are available.

Irregardless of the "on hold" status of this mod, we're STILL WORKING OFFLINE. So do not panic.

here's a music accompanied description to the time between HW1 and HW2. this is the first of a 2 parter release which will detail the events that lead up to the Dustwars.

The Hiigaran Civil War Minimod has been released.

It is a submod of the Dustwars, and will showcase the 2 opposing factions inside Pax Hiigara - the Sjeti and the Sobani.

This minimod release is a SHIPPACK for testing purposes, thus it contains only 4 ships:

-Sjeti blade interceptor
-Sjeti Revelation IV destroyer
-Sobani Naalu intercepor
-Sobani Sephalim destroyer

we're currently working on the storyline and animatics.

game development is on hold, but the foundation is there, thus when the storyline is done, the new ship models in the works can be implemented without much fuss.

Resourcing will be conducted using debris as the primary source, with asteroid mining as secondary sources due to the fact that outposts need to be established near such sites to maintain security, speed and productivity.

We're finishing up the storyline for the mod. It'll be huge, and it's not what you'll normally see in a game.:)

A small manual will also be released soon.

Check the Dustwars Timeline out and see for yourself the epic scope of the Homeworld2: Dustwars universe. This timeline is not finished, but a finished version will accompany the christmas release.

GSY 9510: End of Exodus Wars and the start of Reclamation wars. Taiidani rebels aid Kushan planetary attacks.

GSY 9512: End of Reclamation Wars and start of Hiigaran re-population. Capital city of Asaam Kiith'sid captured, remaining Taiidani defenders annihilated by rebels.

GSY 9521: Start of Hiigaran internal political turmoil and creation of the Daiamid Parliamentary system. First show of Kiith Sjet's power and Karan Sjet's influence over Hiigaran society and government.

GSY 9523: End of Imperialist resistance, Taiidani Republic formally formed under jurisdiction of the Galactic Council. Imperial remnants flee into the Western hemisphere of the galaxy. Bentusi reopens trade lanes with Republic.

GSY 9524: First contact between Turanic Raiders and Sobani surveillance ships, Turanic Empire revealed with most territories being captured Imperialist worlds. Negotiations for an alliance ends with Sobani ships destroyed and bodies never recovered. Intelligence infiltrations revealed that not all Imperialist fleets have been accounted for, whether captured or destroyed.

GSY 9526: Taiidani Republic signs a formal alliance with Hiigara, including mutual assistance and military assistance. Full extent of the Republic's territorial capacity is revealed to the Daiamid - encompassing nearly the entire Eastern galactic border of Hiigaran space.

GSY 9527: Daiamid establishes trade lanes with neighbouring star systems and sovereign races left behind by the fractured Imperialists. Republic formally halts expansion policies to focus on pirate and imperialist incursions on their north western border.

GSY 9530: Galactic Council meeting on Ti'a, full extent of Hiigaran territorial weakness is revealed, with many of the member civilisations citing the power void in the galactic west - hinting their distaste for the Turanic Empire and granting ignorance to any military action by the Hiigarans.

GSY 9532: Daiamid dissolved with Karan Sjet calling the Hiigaran people to stand tall and re-establish their ancient claim to the vast star sectors of their ancient empire. First War of Expansion begins, with Hiigaran fleets mobilising into the Western front against Turanic forces. Formal declaration of war with the Turanic Empire reaches the fortress world of the Turanic in the Turan sector.

GSY 9535: 1st War of Expansion ends, with Hiigaran territory 500% larger. Republican warships first sighted along the Hiigaran - Turanic border.

GSY 9536: Planetary Assembly vetoes military resolution put forward by the Security Council, citing population necessities far outweigh the need for territorial expansion. Kiith Sjet dissolves Daiamid Parliamentary System, with Karan Sjet assuming the role of Matriarch and quelling the unrest by diverting military funds into the civilian sectors, virtually eliminating poverty and disease on more than 70% of Hiigaran occupied worlds.

GSY 9539: Voluntary merging by neighbouring star systems first brought before the Galactic Council, Hiigaran territory expands into the southern hemisphere by 150%. First Contact with the Nalthoran species made by Kiith Soban.

GSY 9540: Karan Sjet begins the Codex, infusing all her knowledge and wisdom into the guide. First mention of the creation of a "Pax Hiigara" by sources close to Karan.

GSY 9545: Turanic Empire incursion into Western Hiigaran - Turanic border, met with extreme force, ends with Turanic Empire armadas annihilated and Hiigaran fleets shattered. Recorded by Galactic Council as the "Massacre of the West".

GSY 9546: Formal attendance to Galactic Council meeting at Frerrn homeworld by Karan Sjet, declaration of the Hiigaran Empire and formation of the power bloc known as Pax Hiigara. Heidi Sjet, the adopted daughter of Karan Sjet, is revealed to the Hiigaran population as their Emperor. Public uprising averted by the announcement of the Codex, whereby Karan herself would present it to the Emperor to govern Pax Hiigara fairly and wisely.

GSY 9550: Pax Hiigara forms trade alliances with Frerrn Aggregate and Tiamat Federation, relations established with Sekhmet Confederacy. Bentusi relations strained until Karan Sjet explains to them that Hiigaran intent was to protect themselves and preserve peace, not recreate the ancient atrocities of the past.

GSY 9551: Nalthoran Directorate merges with Pax Hiigara, forming the eastern-most Pax protectorate, used as a base for eastern hemisphere exploration and colonisation. Hiigaran economy grows ten-fold, becoming the most powerful in the Galactic Council.

GSY 9553: Formal declaration of war against the Turanic Empire announced by the Emperor, citing ancient crimes committed against the Hiigarans during the Exodus Wars. Total destruction of the Turanic Empire ends the 2nd War of Expansion, with surviving remnants fleeing into the Karos graveyards.

GSY 9554: Republic declares war against Imperialist survivors on the Western front, annihilating all but the adopted capital world of the imperialists and forming the Shadow Fleet. Republic claims partial territorial control of the fringe regions in Western Front.

GSY 9556: Republic military forces withdraw from western front after occupied worlds accept Republic control, Hiigaran occupation fleets consisting of Security Council armadas occupies entire western hemisphere short of Republic space. First sign of threat to the Council as Hiigaran military establishes fortress worlds in tactically superior locations bordering the Taiidan Republic.

GSY 9557: Sekhmet Confederacy attends formal discussion on economic and military issues on Hiigara. Treaty of Naam-Siirfal signed by both civilisations, banning the use of orbital bombardments and economic destruction in conflicts.

GSY 9559: Sobani surveillance ships detect massive energy signatures deep within the Eastern frontier, Pax directive issued to clarify the anomaly. Sekhmet warships deployed as "listening ears" for the Galactic Council.

GSY 9561: Sobani intelligence proclaims the contact between Hiigarans and a warlike race who calls themselves the Veygr. Discovery of the inhabitable star-system of Vey and the on-going conflict between various Veygr tribes and clans. Council directive issued for colonisation and exploration of the uncharted Eastern hemisphere.

GSY 9566: Galactic Council deploys pacification armadas consisting of all member races to forcefully bring peace to the Eastern Front, a must if the uncharted regions are to be colonised. Hiigaran expansion ceases as consolidation starts, Taiidani Republic formally addresses the Galactic Council to the threat of the Hiigarans as a peacekeeping civilisation.

GSY 9568: Pax Hiigara declares the formation of the Majirian Conglomerate after reports of the accusation against Hiigaran motives by the Republic leaks out. Intense condemnation by the Council for the creation of this organisation which many feel is a front for a massive Black Operation against Republic power. Emperor denies this and cite the guidance of the Codex - where peace is the only goal.

GSY 9571: "Accidental" destruction of a Taiidani battle group by Majirian warships in a heavily contested trading lane leads to Republic renouncing the alliance between the two civilisations. Undeclared war brews between Hiigarans and Taiidans after centuries of peace. Tiamat, Sekhmet and Frerrn ambassadors pulled out from the two member civilisations as emergency Council meetings are held.

GSY 9575: Republican and Hiigaran forces continue to patrol their eastern and western borders. The Hiigaran Emperor denies any claim that Hiigara plans to invade the Republic and finally destroy the Taiidan race as a whole, fulfilling the ancient goal of the Hiigarans. Galactic Council pacification armada still intact regardless of the political climate of the inner galactic sphere.

GSY 9577: Contact between Veygr forces and Pacification Armada, Veygr forces utterly obliterated. Direct assault on the planet Vey commences.

GSY 9578: Hyperjumps to the Vey system fails midway, Pacification Armada falls into a Veygr ambush. Only Republican and Hiigaran ships survive the slaughter due to advanced hypertransit technology and non-specialised ship capabilities.

GSY 9580: Republican advance fleet is sent out to recieve the survivors and administer aid to the wounded. Pax Hiigaran forces deployed to intercept the Hiigaran survivors two days later. "Friendly Fire" incident occurs at the Eastern frontier, where Hiigaran survivors of the veygr ambush are selectively annihilated by Republican advance fleet - citing the presence of veygr ships in the area which led to the incident. Pax Hiigaran interception fleet rerouted to intercept the Republican advance fleet. Hiigaran Emperor formally severs all ties with the Taiidan Republic and declares hostile action against any destruction of Hiigaran assets.

GSY 9583: Pax Hiigaran mobilisations detected across the entire Eastern border, Majirian Conglomerate warships deployed to counter the rumoured "Shadow Fleet" of the Republic. Bentusi suspends all economic assistance and trade links with both the Pax and the Republic. the Galactic Council, reeling from the loss of the Pacification Armada, refuses to interfere with the affairs of the two interstellar superpowers. Sekhmet intelligence ships deployed as neutral observers to the conflict brewing in the Eastern Rim.

GSY 9584: Hiigaran Emperor declares war on the Taiidani Republic as Majirian warships engage the fabled Shadow Fleet in the Korax Nebula near the Taiidani world of Solshaar - starting the 3rd War of Expansion.. Hiigaran and Republic fleet elements clash in a titanic battle over 200 light years of territorial border. The conflict threatens to spill over to the Tiamat Federation when a Republican cruiser is persued by a Hiigaran battle group deep into the trade lanes of the Tiamat Federation, prompting Tiamat warcrafts to engage and destroy both civilisation's warships and forcefully putting an end to this incursion. Tiamat entrance into the Hiigaran-Taiidani conflict is halted when the Galactic Council impose economic and technological sanctions on the Hiigarans and the Republic. Frerrn leaders contemplate the task of attacking Triishala and Hiigara to end the conflict.

GSY 9589: The war comes to an abrupt end as both government realises that neither civilisation had gained any ground. Hiigaran and Republican armadas retreat from killing fields of the border between the two civilisations. Ambassadors from the Galactic Council are sent to counsel and advise the two warring civilisations to make peace.

No. some of the races only have fighter and corvette classes, while others simply concentrate on capital warships.

one of the distinctive race that focuses on strikecrafts will be the Tiamat Federation, whereby they have behemoth coordinator ships that are capable of releasing clouds of strike fighters and corvettes for maximum guerilla warfare in space.

whereas the frerrn aggregate has crustships and coreships for long range bombardments, but no strikecrafts whatsoever.

the designations of the ship classes also vary according to race. for example, the republican taiidani has ship classes ranging from the Taiid class of shadow protectors to the Huen class of shadow tenders - which correspond to the hiigaran classes of Battlecruisers and Support ships.

For all of you who can't seem to get the mod working, a FAQ's in the works in the journal.

For the SP campaign - no, it isn't yet finished. When the finalised MP mod comes out the SP campaign will be different, with both Hiigaran and Veygr having upgraded and new ships. However, the true Dustwars SP campaign is still in the works.

The Dustwars mod will focus on the start of the Veygr Jihad against the inner rim. However, the entire storyline revolves around a much larger canvass than a petty interstellar war which has been boiling for over 100 years. A history of over 5 million years will slowly be revealed to the player, concerning areas once untouched by the Homeworld games.

And just for some information - the ending of the Dustwars is not an age of peace, it is the start of a new age. One who has been banished will return from Exile - and it is not the hiigarans.

dustwars is based on the version of Homeworld2 that got axed by Sierra before they reinitiated the game license, which by that time meant that relic had to REDO another game and that is the HW2 we have now in stores.

the minimod isn't supposed to crash during loadup. check to see if your data directory is empty of all other mods.

and the badges go into the BIN -> PROFILE -> BADGES file. override the badges file if necessary unless you yourself have custom badges.

anyway, a small update. Republican taiidani warships will have directional shielding to compensate for their inherant bulkiness which simply puts them at a disadvantage as stray shots can even hit them due to their large size. Heavily shielded in the front and sides by these directional shieldings, they can withstand massive hails of missiles, but kinetic and energy weapons still punch through.

Republican warships have immense frontal armour but suffer from a blind spot at their aft, ventral and dorsal sides.
