hey at the part when you need to get all the keys to the gate when i go to the steam i cant find the joint of the steam machine please help me on this i really wanna finish the story

Im having trouble when you need to get the 4 keys to the gate when i go to the steam machine i get the hammer and i hit the joint is says no object to use on! please help me on this
