Not dead, I just don't pay attention to Moddb. I'm going to update once there's more concrete news on when this thing will be released.

No, but the first alpha release isn't too far off.

I'll update everything with more info when I can.

Thanks for updating this for me. I hadn't felt like it was worth making updates here until an imminent alpha release made hyping it up feel more sincere.

The capital duchies of hidden realms can't be conquered unless counterattacked in a 'holy war' or the realm loses its hidden status some how. Other examples include Nargothrond and Doriath.

It hasn't been released yet, unfortunately. Stabilization issues have prevented an alpha release thus far.

Hell yeah. I'm making good progress on figuring out the stabilization issues preventing an alpha release.

I'm designing the simplest possible mechanic, where wilderness characters just hold onto empty provinces. Colonization will either be done via the steward or via an expensive character interaction with the wilderness.

They will be independent allies of the elves, although Dor-Lomin will be a vassal of the Noldor.

It's coming fairly well, some new team members have boosted progress considerably. I'll make an effort to throw some new screens on the moddb page soon.

Thanks! I agree. I'm focusing on a great gameplay experience with a complete world first, then I'm going to tackle historical quests. I'm not releasing the mod until there's at least one time period with historical quests, however.

Soon, progress is advancing along with updates to MEP. The issue is that I'm the only one working on original content for the mod at this point, so either I release it in a form which doesn't have very many historical quests, or I release it later than I want to.

I have plans for if someone manages to actually conquer the duchy of Thangorodrim. While they won't be able to make use of the land, the prestige associated with defeating morgoth will be pretty great as you said.

Also, most wars against morgoth will involve allianes, so simply beating him probably won't do much other than the opinion bonus and the increase to racial (religious) authority.

I'm not certain about the DLC but right now I'm developing with everything up to and including conclave. Not reaper's due.

I'll make a forum post once I need some testers - that won't happen for a while.

I'm not going to promise a release date since the time I can devote to it is uncertain and I'm currently the only one actively working on it. It will be finished and released before long, however. It's not going to be abandoned and development is progressing, so don't worry.

The Noldor have better technology and warriors from the start, and hold higher titles. Other than that, it mostly deals with aesthetic differences and the far more belligerent nature of the High Elves.

The Noldor Kings are larger-than-life characters who have many special events which lower Dark Elves won't have access to. There will also be certain conditions under which you can abandon your realm and re-establish it elsewhere, something which the Dark Elves aren't as good at doing. One benefit to being a Dark Elf, however, is that you're much less likely to draw the attention of Morgoth.

Righto. A second age mod would need to be an entirely different sub-mod.

I have 0 of the flag graphics finished, but there's an experienced graphics modder on the team who's working on them.

As for the provinces, I tried to make them denser in areas which were more heavily populated, but unfortunately many areas of Beleriand were sparsely peopled.

I'll release the alpha when the mod is a little more stable and all of the character histories are filled in. Hopefully then I can draw some help in developing events.
