Also there will be two variants of One-Flag Capture the flag, which in UT is bombing run. We'll support a classic One-Flag-CTF, Bombing Run, and Grabber-Style bombing run.

In grabber style bombing run, each player on the team is given a grabber type weapon. The ball will be in the center of the map. Players must run to the center and pickup the ball with the grabber.

Opposite team members can also try to grab the ball away from the player, by either killing them, or grabbing the ball away. There will be some server options for this mode whether you can use standard weapons, or be truer soccer match style (no real killing weapons).

I have already begun coding the Freeze Tag, Harvester and Overload game types. It seems that Raven had already coded (or mostly coded) a One Flag CTF variant, so i'll fix it up as well.

I've already coded the insta-gib server option, so that will be avaialble in the first alpha release.

The first alpha will focus on a few game types, and options, for a start. So we can get feedback from ya'll.

There are a few maps and models that have been in the works for a bit.

Yes it does seem a bit ambitious, but it should be fine if we stage everything properly. The real initial first release (mid dec i hope) will just feature the new game types (the old Team Arena types + Freeze Tag)

Then the next release will feature the team types. And we'll see how that goes.

Hey Marsupilami,

Yes, plus there will be some configurations the clients use. Preferred team type (So if a map has Doom type team, always joing that), weapon ordering, etc.

for all the interest guys, we're still in the planning stages, till the q4 sdk is released. Some mapping has begun (some remakes, some new). I'm going to list the official game types that will be released for the first version:

*note* these are in addition to Q4's defaults of DM, TDM, CTF, A-CTF and Tourney.

Last Man Standing (and TEAM-LMS)
Freeze Tag
One Flag CTF (Plus a Bombing Run var)
Harvester
Overload

The last three will exist as they did in q3.

We will do Rocket Arena if there's still time for the first release, but it will be in the second release once we get more feedback, and more members.

Because of the team nature of our mod there will be at least 60 weapons made. For the teams:

TeamDoom
TeamWolf
TeamQuake, TeamQuake2, TeamQuake3
TeamQuake4 (nothing new here)
TeamDuke (will be renamed, in the final)
TeamUT (will be renamed, in the final)

Now the team concept is intended to allow player teams to duke it out in a Quake vs Quake 2, or Doom vs UT type fashion.

These behaviour will be configurable by the server admins. As well as map rotation configuration, game type rotations and more config options (i.e. weapons)

There will also be at least one Four team map, which can potentially pit Duke vs Doom vs Quake vs UT, styles of game play. So in one flag ctf more, the ut-type guy does a running teleport to the flag, gets say smoked by the quake guy who grappled in who in turn is then smoked by the jet packing duke-like.

The team's mode might only appeal to those clan types who want to put to rest which team type could beat the other.

We can't really use the UT or Duke names, we're just going to recreate the style's of play they represent.

You'll also have some mutators like insta-gib, low gravity, etc, to play with

Keep posting your feedback, ideas, etc. Because we are interested, and incorporate ideas while we're in the design process waiting for the SDK to get the serious stuff done.

We will have a rocket arena mode, yes. Plus plenty of server administration.

We emailed Raven and id, and from what they told us standard quake 4 multiplayer will only have Capture the Flag, TDM, DM, and Last Man Standing.

Plus we're adding variations for the different game styles. Should be interesting :)

Eventually it will get like that i hope. But for the first little while, the mutators will be defined as options, eventually people can add there own, kinda like ut.
