I've added what the Alpha Version UI looks like, just show there is more progress then what has been shown going underway.

Also just to throw some more stuff out there. We have found a new host. Courtsey of hl2gaming.com!
I'll be taking a minute break off coding and modeling and such to get a good pre-website build so more images, information and such can be posted. As well weare getting a forum for all the people interested to chat in, add ideas, voice options, and so forth!

Just so no one gets confused, yes this is the same mod, just a different name. Becuase of legal reasons with LucasArts "Star Wars" may not be apart of any star wars related mod title.

I hope everyone likes the new name, Galactic Combat!

Yes actually the Cdef pistol is a very skinny pistol. Most of the CDEF series are made as a compact size so they are easy to carry. That is why the pistol looks skinny, because in reality, it is.

I will be getting a NEW website up to replace the old one. Unfortunantly the sevrer which hosted the website stopped displaying free accounts, even though I've been able to login and upload files.

So I hope to get a temporary site with the basic information back up again, sorry if this confused anyone, and thank you for the people who brought it to my attention.

I've just accomplished getting models, imported, textured and animated for HL2. Now that is out of the way and I have all that knowledge I will be digging into the Vgui and modifiying it drastically.

Satanicus: Yes it sucks I have to do most of it myself, but help is slowly creeping in, which I'm thankful for the few ppl who have email'd me about helping out.

In another week or so expect to see some new HUD designs and main menu designs!

I've been contemplating closing the mod because of a sinple barrier.

Lack of of a team, I may be able to do a lot of things on the mod, but a lot of the advanced coding features are just out of my reach.

I have been brainstorming ideas to get around a bunch of faults, such as models, most of my models are made in 3d studio max and I cannot import them into XSI let alone export them from max to HL2.

So unless I can get around one of those two barriers then I am going to have to close this to the public and just work on is solo in my free time for educational purposes.

So please if some people have information on how to export from 3d max(6) to XSI that would be awesome. Also anyone interested in a coding position on the team would be a very welcomed addition.

The website will be up soon. I just got another host which is awesome and I'll be uploading the completed site there somtime next week. In the mean time have a Happy Thanksgiving for those who celebrate it!

Rumor has it, after the release of JTL Lucas Arts is going to break away from SOE and they are going to create their own in-game Star Wars MMO. They state that they are extreamly displeased with the way SOE has handled the production of the game. In all I hope this rumor is true becuase frankly SOE needs to be shown that their game is a total destruction of Lucas's dream series. So that is why I have put the mod on hold for the time being. If this rumor is true I will be cancelling the creation of the mod. If it false I will resume posting updates.

Being sick all day and still pumping out content...I must be crazy....or its jsut to keep away from the bed, i've developed the no-sleep syndrome. Its when you cant sleep because your mod fills your mind @.@, oh I completed 3 more models, and a page of documentation. I'm going to throw all that up tomarrow, along with hitting the site with updates <.<...forgot again.

Thanks :) I've turned up the heat and am starting to really hit the floor will pumping out models, animations and other stuff. You'll be seeing daily, if-not double daily updates!...some sudden hit of motivation smacked me, or it was those few energy drinks.....hmm...

I am still looking for talented people to get in on this project! :) Please dont let the size or scope of this intimidate anyone who's thought of joinning. As long as you are willing to be dedicated to helping out and got some skill, be it ok, good or great you can join the team! :) I am the only active content creator, my friend who helps with the mod has no skill in ANY area of modding, except she is a Star wars guru junkie and keeps me on the path of continuity.

So any extra hands would be appriciated! Also while working on this mod you'll gain invaluable skill in programing, modeling, and other aspects of mod creation!

Thanks :) lol, i didnt think it pwns but upgrading to pwnz i wont turn down! Just a mini mini mini update, i've been trying to get a preview of how the weapons will work by useing UT2K4 but im held up becuase when i export from maya all my models seem to loose half their polys. Just to tell you all why im laggin in updates. If anyone does have a fix for this i'd appriciate the pointer!

In addition to the A-Wing starfighter that I posted a little while ago I completed and uploaded the Xwing starfighter to go with it. I was also finally given the planet music which will be the idle music which will play every so often when you are roaming a planet. Which we believe is the biggest lack in many MMO's is idle music, I'll have these uploaded for preview and download in just a few!

Like I said, as I get more done I'll post it up. Just uploaded to the image gallery is the AntiVehicle Artillery Tower, or the Atgar 1.4 FD P-Tower its real name. Used unsuccessfully against AT-AT's durring the battle of Hoth.

Seems my news posts arnt posting right so I'll say it here. I playd catch up since I was sick from school and got a bunch of stuff uploaded. Profession and Mission information is avaliable on the site and I uploaded 4 more weapons in addition to the VK's i uploaded yesterday. Newest weapon additions are teh C22 Frag Grenades, Cyroban Grenade, Field Disruptor and DXR Disruptor Pisol. Enjoy them, I should have a few others up tomarrow or today. These are all untextured versions because I have to create the skins for these weapons becuase they are not redibly avaliable to me.

I appriciate your comments, I wasnt taking it as flaming since I've been flamed enough in my life to know what is and isnt flame :) lol. I'll take a look at it. Also I wasnt planning for it to be a stand-alone game. You'd need the main HL2 files like all mods will but the changes will mostly be the 3d content and interactions. The bigest slow down will be the networking code which shouldnt be to much of a problem except the part in which client data will be stored on the server and be accessible back and forth, as well as syncing machine data. But i will go look at the link you provided it seems interesting.

Juggling school, having my gf around, modeling, brushing up coding skill, typing information, sneeking in about 30 minutes of gaming I was able to re-do the website greatly. My friend apperently backed out on the idea and said it was to big of a task so I got to work on making a layout myself. Its in the image gallery, stilla WIP but thats 75% done. It's a huge change over the current layout which in my opinion is worthless crap since it was a 10 minute put together just to throw content up with. More stuff coming very soon, I've beent rying to pick up the pace on getting things done since I've been reading around the HL2 SDK will possibly be released in a few weeks. Hopfully this isnt another one of those false alarms and that we start to get some tools! Even if it was just the updated WorldCraft I'd be pleased to start mapping.

Then how about a engine that would? I've been playing teh CS source beta and from what I can tell my worst computer plays it with no lag. 1.7 amd atholon xp, 128 megs of ddr ram pc 2700, Geforce 4200ti 128 ddr...the game looked great and played even better. No lag, no chokes, nothing...I even had a friend let em test teh HL2 leak on this machine, I think you people arnt giving this engine the credit it deserves. Playing to much doom 3? Becuase I know sure fire that nothing sort of a small multiplayer or full fledged single player game could onyl come from that. I couldnt play Doom 3 worth crap on those specs. But if anyone has an idea for another engine I'm all ears, since zipola coding has been done. Mod isnt dead tho, jsut put a lot on pause (senior in H.school) work loads starting to pile up so my time has been halved on progess but dont think that I'm not doing anything. I hope ina few weeks to post up a bunch of new screen shots of weapons and vehicles. Maybe If I get around to it, some mapping as well.

But in occordance to that engine comment. I'd really like engine suggestions, but if you break ti down Source is the best engine ever developed...I'ms orry btu Doom 3's engine doesnt cut mustard.

I got a friend to help me redo the site layout since it is a big lame and its color scheme pretty well sucks. So he'll be working on a new site for us :). Expect to see that in a week or less. ALso another noted update I will be relasing information on Professions and there types...."Street" and "Tag". It's kinda of a new system we're trying to invent...not really new but modified and morly a acumulation of a bunch of systems. So expect to see that in about a day or 2!

Im not expecting anywhere near that many people to use the mod once its finished but we never know what the future will bring, eh? About the server and bandwidth isssue however, it is all taken care of. I have nice people around here who I can hook up with to get access to their t-1 and t-2 lines and have already booked such things for when they occure. So I'm hoping that won't be a problem...I just couldnt imagine 10,000 used on my poor 4mb/s upload/downlaod cable modem....thats the kinda stuff u goto bed and have nightmares about *Shivers*. Rest assured the game will be able to hold a substanual amount of players and no noticeable lag.

As well I added another WIP of the Jawa Ion Rifle. It'd taken me a bit more to texture the model but I'm also trying to work out some kinks in the design document such as the missions and experiance to profession system which we'll be doing. It's much different then a traditional system but once I got all teh design conflictions totally sorted out I'll post the whole system up for people to take a look at.

I added my WIP of the Jawa Ion Rifle. I halted my Wester production ebcuase it was taking up to much time and moved to a weapon which I actually had a picturre viewport picture of. Expect to see the finished version late tomarrow night.

You cant charge legally on a mod unless its for a service totally unsupported by the valve engine or any used copyrigthed materials. Also take alook at the behinds the scenes on doom3 vs hl2. Doom 3 uses a much moer sophisticated graphics rendering engine, it was more the "lets show off our fireworks with huge bangs" then support of multiplayer or any enhanceded AI, which was all scripted realisticly to make it seem more alive. Valves source engine however uses their standard technology with a sort of "bump" to the next gen level. They have a wonderful bump mapping system which gives the game such much more pleasing athestetic look while retainning low end support. If you havent seena few views of Bloodlines, a game that was created off the valve source engine which is due out october take a look and you will see the graphics in it were touched downa bit to give way to the hgue scale "hubs" that you are allowed to roam around in. So yes a mmo is very do-able, its just you need to knwo what to cut down and to leave out to make it work correctly.

I liek star wars galaxies its a great game, but if you've played it fro as long as I have you will notice its got a few major game flaws, continuity, city sizes, and jujst no star wars interaction. This mod isnt set out there to replace swg but to be an alternative to those who refuse to play swg. I hvae a few friends in school who bash that game more then they bash their teachers.
