Soo true. Same went for my ps1 (was rained on) and original Xbox (dropped down the stairs). My 360 broke 4yrs ago because of a defect Microsoft KNEW about when they sent it out!!!
As of Marth 31st, 2011, Xbox 360 sales reached an estimated 25.4 million. If Microsoft were to include the rubber bumpers for every single console's DVD drive, 50 cents would be added to each and every console's manufacturing price; if you do the math, this patches on an extra 12.7 million dollars to the total manufacturing cost. That is not a very small number.

Firstly, nothing to do with Win 7. Win 7 was massive improvement over Vista.
Secondly, the X360 was defective for a number of reasons. Amid the rumour and hearsay:
A key Xbox 360 chip was sabotaged by a rogue microsoft engineer 'for the lulz'.
Rubber washers were left out of DVD drive to save 50 cents. That's why early models scratch discs so easily.
