Anyone help me with downloading????????? I install the downloader but do I need to save somewhere special so it loads to my steam? And do I need full Half-Life 2, or is Half-Life 2:Deathmatch good, plz help me!

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH, I WAS UP LAST NIGHT FOR LIKE 3 HOURS STUCK ON HOW TO GET THE DAMN GAME UP SO I COULD PLAY IT. I have a steam account and i downloaded the free Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, will this work? Or do I need to buy the actual entire thing? Plz help, This game is pretty cool.
