I figured out just yesterday that I could solve the problem by enabling GPU-scaling in the driver options of my graphics card. The odd part is that the game was apparently set to my native resolution from the start, further indicating how crappy my display must be.

Is there a way to set the in-game reslolution before -- or at -- startup of the game? I can't do this in-game since the default resolution isn't supported by my cheap *** display, resulting in a "input not supported"-error message to pop up in an otherwise black screen.
