Half-Life 2: Overcharged

Mod review

Overcharged is a half-baked mess of bugs and ******** encounters that sap any fun out of the game, and needs to spend more time cooking in the oven before it's even considered ready for release.
Early game is hellish, with constant mid-to-high-tier enemies placed in areas that make fighting them a nightmare (e.g. 3 Combine Assassins in the warehouse in Water Hazard, alongside the squad of Metrocops gunning at you).
Mid game fares slightly better, but begins to rear its ugly head once you reach Highway 17. Crashes galore, enemy encounters that end with you dying a lot, invisible snipers that have infinite vision and can shoot you from miles away before you can even get a lead on where their positions are, etc.
I haven't reached the late game yet, but from what I've read, it's even more nightmarish than the early game, to the point where people have to use God mode to get past some encounters.
And the graphical options make it look like an unfinished, cobbled together Unreal Engine 4 project.
Constant bloom during daytime segments even when vanilla bloom and this mod's version of bloom are disabled, making it easy for you to get blinded (and thus, vulnerable to snipers and other enemies).
Textures popping in and out at certain points.
Enemies not showing up with their models, making them appear as giant red "ERROR" models.
Submerging in water produces a "missing texture" on your screen that only goes away when you get out of water.
And a whole host of other issues that would take me ages to find and describe.
Want my advice? Wait until the devs patch it into a much more playable state.
Not just with the bugs, but with some of the graphical options and enemy encounters, too.
