This article is a follow up to my previously written article, which can be found here. If you wish to get a better grasp at my current situation and why I am currently writing this article, feel free to read.

Many months have passed without any proper news released about the Half-Life 1/2 Unreal engine 4 port that I considered attempting to do in my spare time. I do feel embarrassed to write these words because I stated I would let know about the status of the project, regularly.

As stated in my last article, I graduated, found a work and am now working full time. I really love the work I do and I pour a lot of energy into my work. When I get home, I have very few energy left to put into game modding.

Lately, I began having less and lesser motivation to work on projects such as porting HL1/HL2 to Unreal engine 4, coding patches for HL1/HL2 mods. This could be potentially due to the fact I have few spare time, now that I have a work, have more responsibilities and am taking driving lessons in parallel. This loss of motivation could also be happening because I have been playing those games for a long time and am simply bored and looking to try out new experiences.

I am writing this to let anyone following my blogs know that it is impossible for me to tell when I will continue working on these projects. It may or may not happen.

I will still remain active from time to time to answer any question people might have.

Sincerely,
malortie.

Hey Marc!

No worries. I'm glad that now you have a full time job and most importantly you do love what you do for living.

I think we also have same kind of feelings nowadays when it comes to play HL1/2 mods because as the time goes we become more picky about it (considering a number of hours we spent on to play them so far), and I totally understand you. You've already spent a lot of your valuable time for those good old mods to fix and make them better, and we, as the community, are so grateful for what you've done so far.

By the way, if you haven't played yet, there is a new mod called Half Life: Echoes. If you have spare time, you can check it out. It is one of the best HL mods out there with sweet visuals and great story.

Anyways, just keep us updated once in a while please, and maybe some day you come up with your own project on Unreal Engine 4, who knows :)

Until we meet again!

Thank you for these kind words. It is appreciated.

I am grateful to the mod community for all the hours of fun and entertainment it brought us and I hope that things will continue for the better.

Thank you as well for proposing Half-Life: Echoes. I will definitely check this out during this weekend.

Do not worry. I will let keep you informed whenever I come up with something of interest that people could enjoy playing or experimenting, or simply to let people know how things are going.

All of this is very understandable. There are some things you can work your whole life doing, some things you cannot, and some things you can't keep doing at a constant pace. Whether you do end up continuing making patches and/or the unreal engine project or not, I know it'll be what's in your best interests and what ultimately works out for you. Thanks for the prior contributions you have made Malortie, and I wish for you the best in your future.
