CNC Fallout

Mod review

Pretty much how I wanted Red Alert 3 would have been...!
There's a little flavor of C&C Generals. Even being a "Beta", it is very well finished, very immersive.
Add some nice maps for skirmish, and hours of enjoyment are guaranteed.
Best mod for any of the C&C games, IMHO.

MEHEM - The Mass Effect (3) Happy Ending Mod

Mod review

I've just finished my playthrough with MEHEM v0.4 (first time with such mod), which was done with a high EMS score.
A personal review of it (no spoilers)...

If you too are one of the many Mass Effect fans that didn't like the end of the trilogy, that only now got to know about MEHEM, I would definitely say to give it a go - in fact, nothing to lose here (if you end up disliking it, uninstal the mod and the ending(s) revert to what it was before).

This newer version has received quite a bit more polish and attention to detail all around, and it's getting to that point where things rarely feel detached to the rest of the game (it all fits right in), which is great.
There are very nice "extra" additions to complement it, in the form of email messages to Shepard and other nice touches (new animations are quite nice).

With that said, not all is perfect...
There are some character lip-synch, model animations and audio issues that, here and there, do feel rough and unpolished. There are also no subtitles for the new voiced scenes.
In anycase, since all these things have considerable complexity involved, it is understandable and somewhat excusable.

The only real negative point is, IMHO, not having a solution to keep the original music.
We are spoiled with two possible choices of new alternative ending and credits music, but not the third (obvious?) choice of keeping the original one.
I understand that there was a tremendous effort with the new music but it feels forced, if not unfitting.
It may be a matter of personal tastes, perhaps, but at least for me in a Mass Effect game, nothing will ever beat that legendary touch of an original ending score by Faunts. We had that in ME1 (with "M4 Part 2") and brought back again for ME3 (with "Das Malefitz"). That is lost with MEHEM and I sorely miss that now, badly.

All in all, even with its issues, it's a top mod for ME3 and a recommended one for reasons already listed.
Good work, everyone involved. :-)
