Thank you, I'll do my best :)
You misunderstood. This article is me saying there won't be anything outside these 4 games. These 4 games ARE the Meridian universe. The story is already written and once it's done, the Meridian series is over. No spin-offs, no prequels.
I definitely want to, let's hope it's going to be possible.
Thanks for the compliments! Yes, Solar Shifter EX is also my game and it's already released on Steam! Check it out:
That being said, instead of extending Meridian further, I'm planning on continuing its story with a new game that has far more options and unique ideas behind it. Hopefully it'll turn out even better :)
You are right, I just noticed that that's also the Steam demo that got uploaded to that link. However, installing the demo from Steam gets you the same demo, so I suggest doing that.
Yes, a demo is going to be released soon.
Just load up the game and you can test for yourself ;)
As Meridian utilizies DirectX 10, this is not possible unfortunately.
1. In the form of skills, yes.
2. No, this is explained in the story.
3. There already are, many of them.
4. The campaign is VERY varied with lots of mission types (stealth, take out Power Plants to weaken enemy infrastructure, choose a base to take out and bear consequences, etc.)
5. Yes, there are more throughout the campaign
6. The encyclopedia on board your ship contains a detailed description about these things, Shardium is explained as well.
7. Yes, you can find some of these on board your ship.
You have to buy it, but that means you also buy the full game. What this means is that you get the current version of the game, and as we get closer to release, it gets updated with more content, more maps, more of the story, etc. Upon release, early access players automatically get their hands on the game as well.
Yup, an Early Access version will be available on Steam next week!
Just keep checking this page for updates, there are a lot of awesome news lurking around the corner ;)
There are only humans in the game, mostly because the story doesn't need any other race / faction, also because units can be equipped with weapons, which creates a lot of unit combinations that offer a lot of variety and strategic depth.
Thanks! I don't know about "breathtaking" campaign, but I'm sure as hell doing my best to make it fun and interesting :)
I'm not sure at the moment. My initial plans only include single player.
Yes, the Meridian map editor and scripting tool will both be released alongside the game so players can build their own maps (even campaigns). In fact, I'm using the same tools to create the game's own campaign.
I only have a backup of the full version of Shattered Origins in its entirety, patched to the latest version, but not of the individual patches themselves. People who purchased the game or acquire it somewhere else cannot update to the latest patch, and I'm not allowed to release the game again (not even for free) because of the contract with the publisher.
No, I don't. At the moment the only platform that will definitely be supported is PC, with Mac and Linux hopefully happening someday.
Not yet. The engine I'm using only supports PC for now, but they just started porting it to other platforms. With a bit of luck, it will be ported to Mac and Linux as well, which is really the only thing keeping me from supporting those platforms.
Yes, this is very unfortunate. What I dislike the most is that you cannot get the latest patch from anywhere, as the official servers are down too, so all content that was added to the game after its release is lost :(
Thank you for your kind words!
This isn't really XNA, I use SynapseGaming's SunBurn engine, but that engine doesn't have a site on IndieDB, so I chose XNA, on which SunBurn Engine is based right now.
However, they are planning on switching to monogame, and when they do, I do too. The SunBurn guys will then start supporting other platforms, hopefully Mac and Linux too someday. This is not set in stone yet, which is why I announced this game as a PC only title.
Shattered Origins is no longer available for purchase anywhere because of conflicts with the game's publisher.
Not yet, but I'm planning on releasing the game's announcement trailer sometime next week, there will be a twitter page then.
Hi BloDestroyer,
Yes, there is base building and economy similar to those traditional RTS titles.
That's correct, the development of Shattered Origins is over and our collaboration with our publisher was not as fruitful as we have hoped. However, we are already working on our next project with a new publisher/funder, and hopefully it will turn out even better.
Egyébként köszi :)
The game is not open-ended at all, the story is going to happen almost the same way each time. There are, however, a few choices, and a secret which can alter the story a little bit.
At times, there is also a pause in the main story to let you take optional missions at your own pace. I recommend trying the demo version, which is available from this site, that way you can see how the game is played.

I've been developing games for more than 6 years now. My first completed project is with my team, Elder_Games, and the game is called Arcan. I'm currently working on our second project, Shattered Origins. I'm the lead designer, the musician, the programmer and the story and storyboard writer for that project.
