Oh, no worries, definitely, definitely not what we're going for. We're actually thinking a cleaner style of city than what we currently have. Just because we're going to fill our levels with terrible murder and anxiety of people doesn't mean it has to look brown and gray. :D Thanks for the compliment!
Well, no, Java isn't of much use, seeing as how Source is programmed completely in C++, but you're thought is much appreciated :)
Concerning sounds when pulling out a weapon... that's a good point. I'll bring that up in our next meeting. As for penalties for killing a civilian... well, yes. Absolutely and undoubtedly.
There are loads of thoughts on how to avoid spawnkilling, but we'll share those details with you all later :)
Yet, it's nothing like the Ship... AT ALL :D
You would be able to play as one of these, except that this is old concept art and might be completely revamped. Sorry about the late reply, btw.
Good question :) But no, there will be no cops, as far as we've discussed so far. Mostly due to the calm nature of the people in our "future". There is no known violence etc. Also, since it's a multiplayer aimed game, adding an NPC that is capable of killing you will make it not only annoying but also extremely frustrating. So no, there will be no cops.
Without a doubt, we're aiming high and if we can pull off 50% of the planned features, we've already achieved a boatload of special stuff. Either way, work continues and we'll keep you all updated.
Oh, we're definitely not dead. Currently, we are in a state of limbo, reorganizing the team, getting some priorities down and then continuing work. We took a long break, but all will be good and this will finish.
Harimau: Hahaha, I know what you mean. But, I personally own an original Khukri knife from the Gurka army from Nepal and traditional Khukris are double recurved, creating that spectacular bend in it. Also, the size of this thing is way to big for a khukri knife. (well, sort of)
FYI, I modeled it, straight off the concept art and I had the same conversation with the concept artist.
