Thunder's Leaves

Mod review

First impressions
Amazing setpieces, i mean its nothing that will blow you away its just subrubs, farmlands and windfields but it really sit right at home with me because it looks just like where i live. Captured the essence of these places so true to life it nearly singlehandledly sold me on the mod aside from the electricity powerup thing.
Praising the fact that there was actually a grenade launcher in the SMG, a detail i very much enjoyed.
Very much golden lost opportunity to include a nail gun to play with the whole electricity theme like in the cancelled OF sequel.
I actually really enjoyed the weapons overall, although the shotgun would really benefit from more damage to really communicate the power of it because the sound design is on point.
When it comes to the plot, its nothing really special, dont really have much to say here.
The fact that they even bothered to make custom models for basically everything is also praise worthy because it was executed really well, all the assets are really well done, including the sound design which was also really awesome.
The main selling point is the overcharge mechanic, while awesome, it didnt impact me as much as everything else on the mod, still cool though.

Some criticisms are of the puzzles are not obvious enough and the fact that i had to pull a walkthrough at all is enough of a crime by itself, the mic quality and volume difference between the voice actors is a bit jarring as well but overall its good enough and you get used to it eventually.
The drones you are given are really complicated to kite, i like the concept though.
The new antlions are meh, their range is a bit inconsistent in my experience and ive found ways to cheese them to avoid actually dealing with them which shouldnt happen.
There were a few new Combine soldiers but i didnt notice any difference aside from being damage sponges, i dont think they add anything to the experience.
There are some areas that would benefit from not having endless enemy spawn as well.

There are a lot of quality of life changes that could be made and some design choices that shouldve been different, but for a 2 hour long mod developed by one guy, its really solid, i encourage everyone to give it a try, good stuff and instant classic. Definitely looking foward to more from this specific creator.
