I haven't myself lately, but I do recommend if playing Lan to do it with a decent internet speed of course if done wirelessly via router. I've heard (with the correct cable) it can be done by connecting directly computer-to-computer. If anyone has any difficulties and is looking for advice (or even if you have good advice to give), then please share here!
Also you may be pleased to know that after I release Version 9 in the coming days, I will be looking into connectivity via CnCNet for full online play. Apparently anyone who downloads any mod can actually do this themselves, so feel free you guys, and let me know how you get on.
Hello and welcome,
There are some things you can set/check. 1st and most obvious question from me would be did you read my installation tutorial? Also if you're having a display issue, read my article entitled 'Upcoming New Horizons Version 5, Plus Screen Customisation Tutorial'; it's one of the older articles, but still applies, and talks about how to customise the display.
I haven't seen what you refer to from my end, but it Does sound like a display issue. What screen resolution does your monitor use? Check through my screen customisation tutorial, and either set it to basic game standard settings (i think was 600x800, you can look it up), or set your monitor's resolution (with possibly a +1 res as I describe in my article) to allow for full widescreen gameplay. Let me know how you get on?
Thanks to a diligant guest user reporting an issue with the Tesla trooper, as well as the Inferno war miner weapons, I have identified the problem and resolved it. This fix will be included in the very next release, so that their weapons will have restored potency.
Thank you for reporting this, I am pleased to say I have identified the problem, and it has now been resolved. I shall include this fix in the very next update, thank you!
Could you describe the situation? I haven't ever witnessed this happen, what target is not receiving from these units?
Hello, could you please elaborate? I'm not sure what you are asking..
well I can start off with good news; I can confirm that the mod works 100% on Windows 10, as my old laptop runs it on Windows 10. I may need a little more information to help you. Did you follow the installation tutorial article I made? Have you installed the un-modded (standard) game, including the necessary Yuri's Revenge expnsion? Also it is crucial you have downloaded the official patches and installed that. Next you need to allow exceptions for all related applications through your computer's firewall And/or antivirus software (which of course, I advise you have one). And of course, set applications to run in admin mode.
One more recommendation; I noticed if the 3rd-party softwafe Iobit SystemCare is used, it messed with functionality of some games (including this one), so I uninstall that if you have it. (That said, other Iobit products haven't interfered). Hope this helps, let me know?
Hello, well good news for you is there are more countries planned to be added, which will of course mean more flags. No need to pay me haha, this is just a hobby of mine, which flag are you hoping to see?
Hi there, can you give more details? Is it since you installed the mod? Did you have the standard version of the game working, and if so, which version? Have you downloaded the necessary official patches? Make sure you've followed the instructional installation tutorial here on Moddb.
Feel free to give circumstances leading up to a crash if it reoccurs, to identify the problem. Bear in mind there are a multitude of open-sourced maps you may use at your own discretion, some of which have known bugs and crash, however they are not related to me or the mod.
Welcome Skrydon! I hope you enjoy it, let me know what you think, I'm currently working on the 2nd New Horizons' campaign mission (all 4 original campaigns have been fully restored to work in Yuri's Revenge, and with this mod ;)
Hello, could you be more specific? Are you referring to CnCnet?
Greetings! Yes, that is because it is listed under it's full, formal name, 'People's Republic of China'. Scroll down on list of selectable countries; it's close to the bottom.
Hi there, can you give details? Bear in mind there are some 3rd-party (open sourced) maps downloaded which aren't necessarily stable. What mode, map, actions in game led to your crash? What system do you use? Did you follow the installation tutorial?
If it's a recurring/repetitive error (happening every 10-20 mins,) then this shows some consistency which may help identify the problem. Take note of the game settings, then try a different map, and share what happans?
No, next version will be 9, and will have 2nd N.H. Campaign mission.
Final version of version 8... ;)
It's now Live! Check the files section, enjoy
A new year's treat will be released tomorrow; Version 8.C.
Details to be released soon...
It only took me Version 8.B of the mod to finally get around to making this!
Yes, many post-Soviet-era items have been added to the game. The original campaign missions were based in an alternate-reality Soviet era, whereas the New Horizons campaign missions are (and will) based in modern times (1st quarter of 21st century), whereby the two main factions are NATO and CSTO (instead of Allies and Soviets).
By nature of the message, it is suggesting something specifically wrong with your version of Yuri's Revenge. Has your standard (unmodded) version of the game run okay offline? Or only on specific modes? It is strange that it would Only be configured to run via cncnet (the online platform). I have not yet recieved a response from cncnet to activate this mod on cncnet for online play, however I heard that anyone can contact cncnet on behalf of any mod, to get it added there.
My personal recommendation is for you to do a fresh reinstallation of your game (from disk, or Origin, wherever your original copy is), as by sound of that message, it is currently missing something, and I haven't known anybody else to have that problem.
Hi yes you are correct, bear in mind that this is specifically a mod (as is, 'modification') of Red Alert 2, specifically the Yuri's Revenge Expansion.
1st you will need to get the game (along with the expansion Yuri's Revenge), and install them. Then you need to download the official patches for the game (which are available for free on the internet). Once you've done this, feel free to install the mod,and follow the instructions on the tutorial.
If you get stuck, feel free to ask for advice.
Can you give more details? Did you have the standard version of the game working, and if so, which version? And have you downloaded the necessary official patches?
I have never played the game online, only campaign, skirmish, and LAN via internet, however I believe it's just a case of contacting the guys at cncnet to get the mod set up on there for online use. I did message them before but heard nothing back (I presume they are busy), but you may feel free to contact them to request this mod be added?
For those of you whom requested it, I have made a simple installation tutorial video, to supplement the installation tutorial article. So for those of you whom are looking for guidance with installing this (or any mod for this game in general, I guess), here it is; Moddb.com
Some people requested a video tutorial to assist with installation. Bear in mind, this video/tutorial Assumes you have already properly installed the standard version of Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge; which you must of course do First, as well as downloading and installing the Official updates for Red Alert 2, and Yuri's revenge respectively.
There are various open sources online that can guide you through installing the standard game, including videos.
Hi there, can you describe the problem in more detail? Did you follow the installation tutorial? What system do you use?
After 1st initial installation, it's fairly normal for there to be at least 1 instance of the game force-stopping/exiting as the computer's firewall and/or antivirus software need to be told that the game's executables are safe, as well as setting correct compatibility mode to run all application file types in the directory. This is explained in the tutorial.
Additionally, I can make a video in the coming days to demonstrate the installation.
Yes, from the great Smegma Valley, to the mighty Mt. Testie, there are a many epic battles to be had! ;)
- btw this post was Me, I forgot to sign in! XD
Ahh, yes kalidrone, the Su-47 is indeed a beautiful aircraft. I have been generally adding serial-produced aircraft/vehicles to the game, and unfortunately the Su-47 is more of a technological demonstrator/prototype. If I remember correctly it had very high low speed manoeuvreability, but the drawback of the forward swept wing was the limited top speed stability. Well even if I can't add one as a buildable serial aircraft based on this, I guess I could add a one-off to a future mission map ;)
