the problem is that he installed the old version of the systempack... the 1.1 to be more precise. I did that too the first time O_o
He should search for system pack 1.7.

Its not wrong at all... it depends on the preference of the fighter. They were used both ways. The normans used the normal grip on their large teardrop shields, while later (as in better teck and ideas) riders started using the angled straps as it offered more strenght, stability and didn't encumber during a mounted fight. Guess what a Knight was mostly... yep... a mounted fighter, thus it makes sense.

Besides, it offers more control in blocking (less chance for the shield to woble when hit) during a fight. And imagine that! Its easier to use the shield as a bludgeoning weapon when held with Victim's strap. Offers more strenght when doing that, as you basically punch with the shield using your hole weight rather than just push using only your shoulder and pectoral muscles.

Take a look at this:

For all the guys who get the error regarding the "kingdoms.exe" not being found... DON'T run the .bat file as admin. Thats what triggers it. I repeat, DON'T run the .bat file as admin.

The install is streighforward. Just unrar the archive in the MODS directory of the game. (Medieval 2/Mods/Gothic Chronicles of Myrtana). Then remove the string.txt filles and run the .bat file. But NOT as admin... LOL.

I installed the game from scratch 3 times before I finally figured it out... O_o Anyway... the mod is bloody greath!

I'm really currious if my icons are gonna go all bonkers on me again... :P There are no words to express the geekish joy you guys have instilled in me with this series of mods...

Btw. Gul-Dukat... any future let's play of the devs vs the borg planned? The AI testing was pretty entertaining. The Borg is everywhere!!!

The fix the dev team found for any missing textures is the following: 1) install the installer version of the mod; 2) unzip the .zip version of the mod in the mod folder of the game overwriting any file; 3) run LAA. For the LAA to work you need at least netframework 3.5. The guy responsible for the fix is Bane... or at least I believe so.

Well guys... if you keep getting corrupt downloads, then the reason probably is the damned appreciation gamers have for this mod. To many downloads at the same time. I for one am gonna try again tomorrow. O_o
